Thread: Ranger/Scout Changes in update on Test Center

I performed some more testing on Test Center last day:
Parameters:
- Master Ranger
- Planet: Naboo
- Creature Levels varyed from levels 7 to 50
- Results include both humanoids and critters
- Character was at running speed during the break check
- Results include break checks against a group member who was concealed by me
Results:
- 469 successful checksand 19 failures
- Worst frequency: Rogue Falumpaset 60% success (10 checks, 4 failures)
- Humanoids apparently have a better chance of breaking concealment than critters
- Critters: 95% success rate
- Humanoids: 90% success rate
Just curious to know, but what is your camo skill (+100 I'm assuming)?
Is there any way you can test the effectiveness of camo skill exceeding +100 (e.g. Bothan Master Ranger)?
If there's no easy way for you to test this, could you ask the developer about this?
Thanks!
N'Raas, if you are not a bothan, I would suggest finding a good bio-eng and test out the fixed tissues. BE's can make a tissue that when used in clothing crafting can give you a +12 or more to the camo abillity.
I have a shirt with the +12 to camo, unfortunatly at the moment if I don't log out with the shirt off, when I log back in I have myusual +80 Camo, and if I remove it, I have a +80/+62 Camo skill![]()
I hope all this is fixed with the big publish, and you would be the one to find out![]()
This may be off subject, but those who are playing rangers on the TC (or even master rangers I guess), do you guys have rangers on any live servers? Well, I guess the point Im trying make is, where do you guys get the time to work your way up twice to the ranger profession??
Now, I would very much like to help out with the ranger profession on the TC, but man, Im still working on that on the Chilastra server. Yeah, I'm almost there to master ranger with about 5 boxes left, but still.
Ok.. anyways. Just a few questions about future developments. Now that /conceal has been improved upon, something which has been on our priority list, does this mean we'll see camps and traps next in line, and if so, will this be a few weeks from now until we see a patch note or is this being worked on in the TC as we speak?
"Now that /conceal has been improved upon, something which has been on our priority list, does this mean we'll see camps and traps next in line"
Since GreenMarine (our developer) is the mastermind behind Player Cities, it is possible we will see the proposed changes to traps and camps after the city module is published.
I believe Player Cities are scheduled for next patch... So it's possible that traps and camps will follow in the patch after that.
I am just speculating though. ![]()
"Or do sometimes the devs grant these abilities to players to test out new features?"
As a Correspondent, the developers granted me the skills for the Profession that I represent. ![]()
Delta/N'raas,
Totally by chance I happened to be on tatoinne last night, which is rare for me. I was helping a friend track down a dewback and had my mask scent up when wham, guess what broke it. A kreetle. I thought to myself "Self, haven't we read about folks testing this to see if it is really happening?" SoI ran around a bit and sure enough kreetles were breaking it more than %50 of the time. Seven out of twelve times to be precise.
It's odd because prior to this trip I haven't much of anything at all, minus say Kimos and other large beasties of the sort, break my mask scent. It's just something about kreetles. Weird.
Anyhoo, thought I'd post and let you know. Good hunting all! Hey Jowabe and Draknev! Find me in game and lets go hunt!
"SoI ran around a bit and sure enough kreetles were breaking it more than %50 of the time"
I presume you were playing on the Live servers....
Changes to /maskscent and /conceal are still on the Test Center, and that is where I performed my testing.

The Live version of /maskscent apparently tests twice for each creature, which really skews results. ![]()
The patch to the Live will most likely be occurring next week. ![]()

You stated that you always keep a 40 meter buffer so you don't get aggro'd by creatures that break the camo. Have you tried to approach within the 40m range after reapplying the camo? If so, did the creature that broke the camo aggro you sinceit detected you previously, or was it blinded by the new camo application.

NRass:
Have u tried running these conceal effectiveness test with Camouflage MOD enhnacers? like clothing skill attachment or bioengineered tissue?
Remember that Bothan get an innate bonus on camoflage that may improvetheir chances to effectively camouflage. So, i think it would be a good idea if you ask the Bio Engineer Correspondent to make some camouflageenhnacing tissue and put it on any clothing ( made the Taylor correspondent perhaps?) so you can test if and HOW the Camouflage MOD are works and also help out bioengineers to see if their fixes on TC are actually working.
Also, and alternative way would be to just ask the developers to change your TC character into a Bothan or just create a Bothan andthen ask them to boost it to Master Ranger. I think it would be cool to know in which extent camouflage enhancement works, what do you think NRass?

"I think it would be cool to know in which extent camouflage enhancement works"
It takes a week to run a comprehensive test like the one I did on Test Center.
As far as I could tell, enhancement modifiers for skills such as camoflauge are few and far between on TC, so that would be a no go.
As well, I don't think it's logistically feasible for the developers to change my character species on the fly. ![]()
Either way... Since the changes were released this very morning, everyone can test the changes now. ![]()
I was pretty excited about the camo changes so I made one on Corellia. Only problem is the effects come off as soon as a human NPC attacks you. If the camo is suppose to be effective against creatures then a non-creature engaging you should not make the effect come off. You kill the human NPC and then you have to reapply the camo. Camo's are not cheap to make, so having it come off while I amforced to stop and deal with a human NPC pop is very annoying. So the heck with making camo's. I see no use in them.
