"Come all ye Star Wars Rangers wherever you may be,
I'll tell to you a story that happened unto me.
One night the age of fifteen days I joined a royal band,
We marched from Mos Eisley out onto the burning sand."

Ranger Song - (traditional. To a slow Scots air)

I'll sing you my Ranger song
There is no song before it
The words and tune are not my own
My joy and sorrow bore it
Beside the sea
the brambly brier
In the still of evening
Birds fly out from behind the sun
And with them I'll be leaving
The fallen leaves bejewel the ground
They know the art of dying
And leave with joy their glad gold hearts
In scarlet shadows lying
When hunger calls my weary footsteps home
The morning follows after
I swim the seas within my mind
The pine trees laugh green laughter
I met a man who's name was time
He said "I must be going"
But just how long ago that was
I have no way of knowing
Sometimes I could murder time
When my heart is aching
But mostly I just like to stroll along
The path that he is taking

Thread Cliff Notes (for those who don't want to read all 4 pages)

Page 1

Rooks proposes an Indiana Jones style hat that would have no special abilities, and would be a Ranger only item.

Phenix wishes to chew on grass and talk with a southern drawl

Several people agree that the hat is a great idea

Wookiees will get a Ranger hat made out of hemp

Owen-Lars has no love for the Rodians

Neither does Fodder

Fred Skinner wants us all to run around in tights

I suggest he wear some Hawtpants with his tights

Fodder fears Drawn Butter

Page 2

Page 2 was primarily a battle between the Rangers, and my right to freedom of speech (mentioning Hawtpants)

Paks introduced us to a new song

Uhrim had a bit of a confrontation in the Swinging Doors Cantina after he shot my pa. We're having a gun fight a high noon (all tumbleweeds are invited)

Some Rangers play the Guess Paks Name Game

We all do some friendly Hippie bashing

Page 3

More Hippie Bashing

More Paks Name Guessing

Phenix points out our mastery of the Thread Hijack ability

Phenix's eyes start to bleed

The Robot was sad, but then he was happy, then sad, then happy. He then brought some friends along

Phenix's Llama has an excellent poker face

Page 4

More Robot and Llama silliness

I make a derrogetory statement towards Corporate America

Paks parents were hippie house-builders

DesktopSaki posted some song lyrics

I get distracted by something shiny (my Red Swingline Stapler that Lumberg took from me)

Paks makes a wingdings or webdings flag

Almagill makes a guess at the song DesktopSaki posted

as paks said, too much here to respond to... i just wanted to ask Saki how many times in a day they type "wookiee"...

::thunks head on desk, didn't even realize I'd done that::

heh, don't feel bad, that is one mistake i've made hundreds of times... i had a guildmate, a wookiee named "Cookiemunster"... i don't know how many times i tried to /tell him andgot "Cookieemunster is not online"... throw into that that my girlfriend once made me Wookiee-ookies, and the wookiee cookiee thing is really old HAT for me...

oh, and by the by... just wanted everyone to know that link i threw out earlier had nothing to do with wookiee flightsuits (i've all but given up)... it was to the hat thread in the tailor section... umm... like any of you freakin' care anyway!!...

hehe... at least i got to post a link to the wookiee-ookies...

ROFL

This thread is by far the funniest one I've read in a long time.

/bump for humor

/sign for ranger hat

I'd love to have something unique to my profession, but I think hey should add some special equipment to every character class... like pistol holsters for pistoleers or martial arts outfit for teras kasi.

You so win. (Is the song older than that? The version I have is by Cordelia's Dad, and I just love it, but haven't been able to find much history on it. It just feels older to me.)

really quick one before my connection times out, don't you LOVE dial up??

Lance recorded the song in 58 at which time he said it was collected by his father who got it from HIS father who collected it off an old Texas Ranger. Allegedly.

I blame Woodie Guthrie, of course. It'd be JUST my luck to be out in the wilds, sitting in camp, whittlin', when ol' Woodie toddles in and starts singing... and singing... and singing... 'till you end up screaming "SING SOMETHING CHEERFUL FFS!!!!"
