Ranger Revamp: The Proposal


The community wide effort at developing a viable ranger revamp proposal

1.0 - Introduction


The aim of this thread is to collect the ideas and decision points we make over the coming week into one well thought out and entirly possible ranger revamp proposal. This is not a one person proposal so i wont be just doing what i want, i would like everyone to participate and everyone to shape it into something they will like. Over the weeks ahead we will discuss and develop ideas in the focus thread and after each week we will add/remove that idea from the proposal. Hopefully in a good few weeks we can have something we will be very pleased with.


Think of this as a sort of 'whilst we are waiting for the ranger revamp' initiative.








2.0 - Layout


This section will change once we have decided upon a proposal layout


The layout of thisproposal will be discussed in the first focus thread. Our collectivethoughts about how we should put forward our ideas and howwe shouldstructurethe proposal will bothbe up for discussion. We need to focus on what needs to be highlighted, how we put forward our main ideas without turing into an encylopedia of ideas and how best to focus on theareas me most want to put forward.








3.0 - Focus Threads


Focus threads form the main discussion areas for our proposal, we discuss, develope and create ideas that could end up being included. Each week we focus on a new topic and sometimes come back to underdeveloped focuses. The main idea is to focus our efforts in one place, giving us the best footing to create very detailed and well thought out features we would be very happy to use. Below you will find the current and previous focus threads, complete with links so you can quickly follow how we have developed and what we are discussing for the future.

I would honestly like to see MASTER rangers have a further tracking radius than 500m in all directions and perhaps make it a auto update tracking IE: you are tracking a rogue bageraset its 145m to the north so you go north 145m you dont see it so you track again you find it 35m east instead of having to multi track how about either auto updating it like in EQ or giving a WP to it or something... I have a master ranger that gets asked ALOT to help with jedi missions, and the hero of tat missions... and lemme tell you its annoying to have to keep tracking every couple hundred meters to pinpoint the mob...


ALso how about making it so MASTER rangers have a higher than the Droid harvest ability... as it stands i have a 100 harvest... 110 if i use my trando ranger... and i see droids out there with 105 blah blah...


What about MASTER Rangers being able to harvest the entire carcas... meat, bone, and hide... it only makes sense... hell anyone should be able to harvest all 3 since you gotta cut the hide to get to the meat, and cut the meat to get to the bone...

As far as I was aware, and I could be wrong, the harvesting droid gives a percentage bonus on top of your base harvesting skill. Therefore, a +100 droid gives no bonus as it harvests at 100% of your base skill. However, a +115 droid harvests at 115% of your BASE skill. Therefore, you get a 15% bonus.

Well I dont post often, but this is important to me so I'll break my silence. PLS feel free to flame at will BTW. What if doc was fixed so that droids could only be used in npc/player city limits and camps? While we are on camps, the high tech field base was cool ans all but the novalty has worn off. I think at master ranger you should have several options for camps; like a med enhancing camp or entertainer camp.....maybe put a mission term in there.....how about make camps that need components so that you can vary the type of camp you make and/or the quality? How about a real base? Like a faction base? I would love to be able to drop my own fwd outpost I'm not saying make it factional, just that style. How cool would it be to be able to go inside or even down stairs to avoid, oh I dunno, a giant krayt? I'm a career ranger so I'd really like to see a laundry list of changes just to keep it interesting. Fire at will.

Also, I agree that a ranger (a master ranger at the very least) should be able to harvest all available resources from a single animal. But having to choose between the two, I would much rather see players more dependent on rangers and their camps----pssst, the improved camps ------ I really feel it would bring groups back together instead of these "one man armies" we have all become!
