Yesterday i was at the squill caves with a friend, while he was grinding tka i was just siting outside the caves mask scented and afk checking the forums. Even though i used mask scent squills were stillcoming after me from inside the cave and mask scent never even broke.

Does mask scent even work anymore because lately it seems like im getting attack more when i use it.

I don't know the full details about it but I've noticed problems with mask scent when new creatures spawn. It seems newly spawned creautres will sometimes agro without even checking mask scent, so you'll get attacked even though your mask scent isn't broken. This happens to me all the time when I'm hunting with friends. They will attack the lair and I'll just sit there, mask scent on and not attacking anything. As soon something spawns it'll go straight after me, even though my mask scent is on and I'm not attacking.

If your friend was killing a lot of squills, they were probably spawning pretty fast. My guess is that some of those new spawns jumped you before even checking against your mask scent.

I'm almost starting to believe in the secret animal faction now too. All animals will always attack Rangers first becuase they hate us, and think we're tasty.

I get that problem every so often. I get agroed and attacked, even thought they didnt break my MS.

I had the same problem in the squill cave also. I could stand there without maskscent on and nothing would happen, but once I had maskscent on and moved one would attack. Strange.

I've been noticing some thing like this lately myself. I used to be able to mask scent and sit there /concealshoting critters without them ever really catching a whiff of me. Lately though, I've been getting aggroed a lot without my maskscent ever being broken. Last night I was in-game just long enough to die to a mantigrue that didn't break my /maskscent... It's bee nreal wonky lately

Yes, I was surprised this morning when a kreetle (nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo) agroed me without breaking my mask scent. I get +25 from my clothes so my skill is 125.

I will look into this as well (I have noticed non-breaking aggro, myself).

I noticed this as well last night while in the hermit cave. Squills attacking me without breaking mask scent all over the shop.

As far as MS not working in caves..I would not be surprised if that is intentional AND I believe it is a good thing (think about the imapct to loot camping, if nothing every aggros on you...).

I wouldn't be surprised if Dame Edna Everage came into the sqill cave and did the cocoracha around a dead squills body atm

Any chance of getting your theory about Mask Scent and caves verified?

It has to do with the "checking" system.

1st a creature will check for your presence. If you are masked or concealed with camo, the sytem will play with the numbers to see if the creature "see's you"

If it an aggresive creature it will attack you upon detection.

BUT!

Lately, when an enemy is under attack it does a GROUP check first when it spawns.

I noticed this at Ft Tusken when I would be not in combat. A Tusken would spawn and head STRAIGHT for my droid. I assume it was because the droid was grouped with me.

So my assumtion is that a creature will look for all members of the attackers group, and randomly attack WITHOUT checking for camo/scent first.

I have had dealings where I would go on "follow" with my group hunting and go AFK. Now obviously I am not attacking anyone while AFK, but I would come back to keyboard to find myself dead. (non aggro example of course)

So I believe the system is checking for "members of the group of the guy who just shot my nest" BEFORE checking for maskscent.

Flynn...that is a valid interpretation, IMO... That coupled with the to hit bonus means that a creature will always aggro on the Ranger first...
