It depends on what you want to achieve of course. Try this one:

Master Ranger

Master Policitian

Master Merchant

If you do this you'll be L33t

Vola Goce - Bounty Hunter/Commando/Hunter
"Doc" Holliday - Smuggler/Combat Medic

What would that enable you to do?

Harvest but not kill.

Sell but not craft the good stuff.

Run a town, but have no power in reality

I would find a combat profession I liked and master it. And you get some points left over even.

Although Rifleman seems a more natural fit, you can't beat TKA's damage output. I can harvest harvest harvest 'til the cows come home, and before I could barely kill anything. I was lucky to get a few thousand units of meat a day, now i can harvest about 15-20k an hour.

It seems the big classes that are touted as great for Ranger are TKM and Rifleman.

I'm a rifleman, personally. I don't like the frenetic pace of melee.. I'm a cool, patient, shoot 'em in the head from concealment sort of guy.

But if excitement is your thing, I imagine a closer ranged class, like pistoleer, or a melee class would be right up your alley.

All the combat classes have their benefits (except perhaps pikeman and carbineer, from what I hear) so experiment a little and find out what you like. A lot of people I know swear by swordsman, many people consider pistoleer the best balanced close-range class... It's all about preferences.

I'm a Ranger/ Rifleman/ Creature Handler.

I only went far enough into creature handling to get a nice level 25 cat. He's usually strong enough tohold the big prey at a distance until I can take it down with a rifle. If not, I toss a Phecnacine trap at it and hope it sticks.

I really enjoy the above combo, though I'm sure there are more "uber" templates available. This one fits my play style, and really has a ranger-ish feel to it.

Huh?

Yeah you want to determine what type of fighting style you like. Up close toe-to-toe with a Rancor or pop a cap in its skull from 60m.

I am melee. With a combat and ranger you have 18 pts left over to play with. Get a little med or a little ch. That is the typical layout.

Good Luck

Ranger CH and Medic. Great for groups..can build camps and heal, also throw a pet into battle to help out. But also you can trully solo where no man has solo'd before.

You have no Marksman skills, Darth_me? That'd freak me out.

I went the way of Ranger/Pistoler/Medic, but I've see TKM's do a helluva lot of damage. It all depends on your play style. Many people say the Dev's were thinking of Ranger when they created Rifleman, while others go TKM/Ranger. I'm sure there are more than a few Ranger/Pistoleer's out there too. Go with what you enjoy.
