I have been a Ranger the majority of the time I have played this game. I have dabbled here and there but always wandered back to the profession since despite its failings it suits me to a T.
Now I'm a Jedi. I find myself dropping skills that I enjoy for Jedi abilities that I have no reason to have. I dont PvP. I dont enjoy the BHvsJedi thing so I'm very careful about my visibility and taking breaks to let it go down. I find my toon sitting in his house no longer enjoying the outdoors as I once had. I would try to do my thing as usual using LS skills but with regen rates as they are its not quite viable.
So, here I am looking at the pic of my guy in his old Ranger gear. So, I'm seriously considering deleting my main character Jedi and rebuilding him and returning to a Master Ranger/Master Rifleman profession and still having my alt. I figure a second character is more than enough payment for the grind I went through. I just hate losing my alt and his history. But with 24 skill points invested in FS its pretty tough to get to level 80 while being a Master Ranger.
I had thought that I would enjoy my purty glow stick and the thrill of the BH chase but I dont really. I enjoy the alt but mostly I wonder about how I'm gonna get pearls for my sabre to make it comparable in the world of pvp. Especially since pearls/crystals drops are nerfed.
Perhaps all my friends moving on to other games has made me want to return to what made me happiest. My guild of once 20+ active toons now numbers 4 or so. If I had more friendly players to play with I might enjoy Jedi more. All I can think of now is that I want to be a Master Ranger again.

Just to warn you, deleting your main will not allow you to create a new character. The second slot is supposedly tied to your Jedi character and deleting the Jedi removes your ability to create a new character.
You might want to consider Master Ranger/Master CH with a few Jedi or other skills. You'll be CL 80, a Master Ranger, never be alone (although there are some pets you might wish to avoid for scandal related reasons), get some innate armor, and possibly have fun again.

I been wondering about that. Most posts I found are a bit confusing as to an answer. Guess I need to do some thinking on what choices I want to make.

How much do you need in the way of Jedi skills to survive? Can you make do with just some LS abilities? Would say MScout/MRanger/LS0044(or your weapon combo of choice)/FH4100 be viable? It leaves you with CL80 apparently and bonuses don't look that bad to the non-jedi eye.
I am just in the process of a) Mastering Ranger and BH, and b)accumulating enough FS exps to gain padawan status, then c) decide what I am doing. Currently I am anticipating a return to crafting or going MCH/MRanger ftw. I had contemplated some sort of Ranger/Jedi hybrid or CH/Jedi Hybrid myself. I do know I am not interested in pure Jedi at this point for sure as I have no use for a PvP character.

The problem is how much force you accrue. At that rate of 0044 LS you cant fight very long without your force running out fast. And it regens very very slowly. Just not quite viable to dabble in Jedi unless you get some Defender.

Why not just make your new character a Ranger. You could even make him/her as similar to your old toon as the system will allow, even say he is his "twin brother" if RPing bothers you. I basically spent a year grinding out Jedi just to realize I had more fun when I was a Ranger. It just suits my play style better. Now I spend 75% of my time playing my "alt", and my original toon is currently killing NPCs to try and get all the parts I need for my "alt"s creature recycler. While I wish things were different as far as which character was which (damn you pub 9!). I'm pretty happy with the current setup. I get to play my Master Ranger most of the time, but I still have the Jedi for high level content.

My alt is an Ithorian and I've come to like him as he is. I thought about taking him Ranger but I found that I'm liking Crafting and Mercant stuff with him so far.
Its kind of a sad attachment I have to Kai but I just cant make him be a jedi. Its just not what I wanna do. Even for the rare high end content. He's just more comfortable carrying around a Rifle wandering around Endor.
I went and dropped one novice box of Jedi tonight and some pistoleer. Trained up all my spare Scout/trapping xp and I'm already feeling better. When next I have time to play I will try and get him back to Rangerdom.
Now, I just gotta pray for that Ranger skillpoint reduction.. lol.

Bah, you can still have lots of fun with your Alt. Look atthis way,I'm a Ranger / BH, all the specials gives me an advantage over critters and NPC's, The payand lootis good, and every now and again I loot a decent crystal.
Funny story, I was about to loot a Clear crystal, Contiotion was 950 / 950. The corps de-spawned beforeI could loot it. I'm not aJedi, I have no clue if it was worth anything,I just thought it would be a nice piece of furnature for my yacht.

Actually deleting your jedi main will also delete your alt.

Once a Ranger, always a Ranger. If you are like me and have been crazy enough to stay Ranger for a long time, it is hard to give it up. I too am hoping for the skill point reduction.

I can only imagine your disappointment.
I just started playing 2 months ago, but when I realized that once you choose the path of jedi, you just nerfed yourself, I made a decision to make that the very last skill I train. I won't start down that path until I've tried each profession. It's a tough decision to become jedi and I know that it changes the game dramatically. I can't tell you how many friends I lose to that path. They're just unavailable to play while they're off doing the jedi stuff or they're too worried about BH's to enjoy themselves when they're anywhere but kashyyk.

Hey there friend. I think the solution for others that may feel like you is to be just an "uber"--as some put it--FS Ranger. If there was a way for us to have a small reduction in skill point requirements for Ranger, we would all be able to shift these excess SPs into something useful (eg melee defense, ranged defense, accuracy, speed, luck, etc--all the various skills that can be used by us to customize various and personalized versions of Ranger.
Is there any way as it stands right now for you--as a Jedi--to downgrade (more like upgrade
)to your preferred Ranger profession.

I won't pretend to know what I am talking about here, as I have one FS toon, but I canceled all of the boxes recently due to the influx of morons, but can't vis be avoided altogether by not using the jedi skills?
I have always been under the impression that if someone was an initiate or something, they could just not use any of the skills at all, and carry that one box around, while being a master-something-else.
Am I way off?
