Ok, all of you Test Center players may already now this, but I'm just bowled over by this...
They are removing the need for Apprentice Xp to Master a profession!
Why are they doing this? You'd think they would try to make the game more social, not less.
Now if you have enough credits, you can go to trainers for all your leveling up needs and not even talk to another player!
I've Mastered 4 professions with the 640 app xp requirement and 1 with the 300 app xp requiremant and have never been at a loss for app xp. As it stand now, I have 300 or so app xp.... so what happens to them when this goes to live?

App xp, for most was just a case of grinding out the required amount of app. using usually ranged supp. 1. In most cases it didn't encourage any great social interaction I would guess, just people spamming more and even offering money to grind app xp. I don't see the game getting hurt by the removal of it.
As for what happens to your app xp.. does it matter? It goes poof I guess. Unless they use it in some other way for something extra, but not required...

Ok, so some people ground out app xp, I'm guilty of selling some to a fellow just last month, but that wasn't the intended way of gaining app xp. I really don't care what happens to my app xp, it's the principle of the matter that bothers me. Maybe I'n annoyed because I had to do it that way and all the newbies don't have to worry about it!
Oh well, I guess I won't get all in a snit about it.
*carry on, nothing to see here*

I am really guilty of selling and/or giving away AP.
Before being "glowy" I always had tons and tons of combat xp and would drop my one medic block and let someone train me in Ranged Support I a couple of hundred times (so it seemed) so they could get what AP they needed. Guildies were free, others paid according to what they offered, how I felt, my cash situation at the time.
I don't have a strong opinion on if this is right or wrong, but it will cut down on some social interaction in the game.

I'm kinda annoyed by this, but most of the new changes annoy me anyway. The biggest hurt I can see is newbs having a hard time finding someone to train them because people dont need to train anymore. It probably wont hurt social interaction much, but it seems like every update they remove the need a little bit more.

Well, I hope they replace the need for apprentice xp to master with a quest. That would be much more appropriate and you have to complete it before you gain the Master title.

Im betting it will be like the pilot or Master Jedi boxes. XP Needed, and loads of it. So, Master what you are working on now before this Publish goes Live.

I think this is an awful change. By the time I reached Master Ranger, I had AP to spare and never even worried about who I was going to train or in what. I just go about my business, train people who spot me as I wander past and help friends and guildies when they need it to. It's about being a good citizen of the SWG universe and I really don't see why it's been removed.
I can understand why they'd want to stop the grinders doing it, but is this really the best solution? I can think of at least one other way to prevent it - i.e. when you train a level of xp, all existing xp in that tree gets zeroed regardless of how much you have spare. I'd much prefer that but then I tend to train a level as soon as possible after reaching it. I rarely hang on and keep going with the xp... others may differ.
Either way, silly idea I think. Very sad statement on player interaction in SWG and what we do to help the newer members amongst us.

Wow, I never would have guessed that people thought the AP system was worthwhile! I am pretty ecstatic about the changes. I am always gated from Mastering my profession du jour becasue of AP. I do hope they put in quests, but I don't see it happening, at least in the near future. I think even just more xp to get Master is better tahn nothing, but it means more grinding.
It is a good point that noobs will have a harder time finding training, BUT I remember the way old days, back when everyone was poor, I trained Ranger out of my pocket (we were rare then, too
). It is certainly possible for poor noobs to be able to work their way through training, so I am not going to worry about it too much.

I had never, ever lacked for AP experience, mainly by training the Scout and Swordsmanskills that I've had all this time whenever I hear a shout out and am not busy. I think I have something like 2k AP Xp banked. Most of my Ranger training I've had to buy, but finidng a person to train me never seemed to be a chore or hardship. I've only ever helped out a guildie once with the ranged combat buying scheme, but that was before the Village of Aurillia opened and I've since had other plans for that Combat XP.

I've been pretty stunned by the amount of people who are of the same mind as yourself Calc. First off, my own position, I'm really ticked that they are doing away with one of the last mechanisms in the game that forces player interaction. You need trained? You SPEAK to other players, tehy offer help, you make friends (or neer see/ hear of them ever again, no biggy). It is after all a Multi-Player Role Playing Game.
Like you, I trained Ranger mostly out of pocket, only finding a more senior ranger online once or twice to level up. In fact, just after I travelled from Tatooine to the backside of Dathomir to Master I ran into two Master Rangers in Mos Espa and had a bit of a rant "Where the heck were you two the past week???" and that's when I learned about switching your MR tag off cos of whiny tells
I guess I can understand the logic of the 'people just grind ranged support over and over and make it pointless' but the same logic could be applied to, well, lets look at becoming a Ranger...
Camping. It is possible to grind though the camping line in next to no time. THere's ways and there's ways. Hey, people just grind through it, lets make it a zero skill line.
Trapping. OK, a little more thought, but hey, get buffed, get suited and go bang traps at the pu55y cats in Durban. I'ts mindless, it's grinding, it takes away from the RP element, lets scrap it and make that a zero point line too.
Woot! TWO whole lines where you just need pesky scout XP from harveesting or sucessfully maskscenting. Couple of trips across Dathomir, if you survive, that old mask scent'll do the trick
Zero AP for Master... presto change-o, microwave popcorn Novice Ranger.
(And I didn't even mention AFKing the combat prof
I liked getting AP for training people up, I liked when I was maxxed out and would pass them on to a guild mate who was also gathering AP. I liked having to FIND somebody to train me and made some good contacts in different profs as I've gone.
I'm really worried thay will do something mad to replace it, half a million XP? A Million? After all, the dancers got stuck with a stinker of an XP grind to use their quest reward.
Still, there's plenty of othe rchanges coming up that I AM happy with. New vet rewards, a GCW revamp that almost seems to make sense, all sorts of stuff. I can live with one stinker of a decision, so long as it isn't the start of something really rotten.
