I'm curious how this works...

When I log into the test center and hit CTRL-S and read the description of those skills, it seems like the tracking line adds the ability to zero in on a particular creature as the skill increases...

...but since I dont have a character with those skills on the test center, and I'm at work today - I'm anxious to hear from some who has tried it out and can say how this works exactly.

-thanks

so, at level 4, you can get direction and distance to whatever you're tracking?

It is nearly useless for me, so far. By the time I can find the NPC or creature, it is dead. I guess that track will give us a better function than this. I guess it is ok if you are in an open area looking for things to hunt... having used it about a dozen times I have not been helped by it at all.

Tried it out on the new patch and it works great. I am up to tracking III, under the new titles, completed and tried it out. The first thing that comes up is a window asking if I want animals or people. After the selection, there is about a 10 -15 sec delay up comes a window listing the MOBS with distance and direction. If you use crtl-m you can tell what some of the animals are around you.

Note: You cannot move when doing areatrack otherwise you get an error, saying that you moved. The other problem seems that the search area is a little to small I think the fartherest I had was 195m

Im a master ranger and I can track peoples houses!

I get peoples houses listed and it's real helpful when I forgot where that armorsmith I liked was.

Otherwise the rest is cool and works.

THEY NEED TO ADD THAT ANIMATION TO TRACKING

THE ONE WHERE THE PLAYER SHEILDS HIS EYES FROM THE SUN AND LOOKS LEFT AND RIGHT

LIKE THE NPC'S DO BEFORE THEY AGGRO!

I WILL FIND YOU ALL AND YOUR HOUSES!

Somehow I was hoping for better range. It should be better then your "radar" at all levels. Substantially at IV. I had a really hard time finding my Explorer Mission game and at this range it would not have helped at all. The rest of it sounds very promissing tho. It would have been nice to track someone that got seperated from your group and I don't understand why you shouldn't be able to do that (track a group member)up to 2k.

I don't know 499m is pretty far. I think that survay 4 gives you a max of 350m.

My biggest gripe is that it's limited to 50 things, so you may NEVER find what you are looking for, even though it may only be 150m away, just from too much in the area. I know they needed to limit the search, but 50 is a little low, especially when tracking animals, and it ends up finding every vendor in the area...

Does this not make perfect sense? If you are standing over a very heavy traffic area, your job of picking out the specific tracks of what you are looking for will be much harder than if you were out in the wilderness with little to nothing else around, i.e. less tracks.

- I love it. A grand explanation if I ever heard one.

- The 50 limit is probably simply a design limitation. But if we can get away with explaining the limit in realistic terms I'm all for it.
