Thread: How can we bring camps back into the game?
Maybe a slight bonus to fishing when you pop a camp up next to the water line and fish from inside the camp limits. Heck the higher camps have food and chemical crafting stations. Perfect for making beer. And everyone knows fishing is better when you have beer to drink. It makes the ones that got away all the bigger!
Or how about camps stopping buff timers. Enter a camp and you buffs will stop counting down, so that when a group leave a camp everyone have the full time.
Or a increase in the stomach content consumption rate. Not a big bonus but something non the less.
One last thing... all group members getting a WP to the camp.
I've been playing as a scout/ranger since Dec '03 and most of the time avoided pvp. Since I avoided pvp I only just recently discovered something that the camp provides that I have never seen mentioned anywhere in the scout or ranger forums.
When I am SF I am able to purchase faction items at the camp status terminal and currently at a lower cost than can be found at any recruiter on any planet. Also, the camp is listed in the map (ctrl-v)under "rebel". This was while using an HTFB, haven't tried any other camps.
How many others were aware of these features?

-sarcasim intended to be silly-
We don't need that stuff...cause people need our camps to pull out vehicals and pets right? RIGHT?
-cackle-
i for one am still a fan of modular camping. Each of the modules provides a certain buff in the way it's written, so it's sort of similar to your idea.
couple ideas I straight up don't like--
cloning in camps. i see this as a potential for some very bad things, and I really don't see any precedent for it. I think it will be abused by people who want to grief, and in the end will end up causing problems (starting a clone procedure then having the Ranger disband the camp could be VERY bad).
I've always disliked the idea of mission terminals in camp. The idea bugged me as I always like EXPLORING, not getting a waypoint to an enemy, going there, killing, coming back, etc. Though I have to admit the CU messed up planets big time, and I hate the "grey-con masses". I think a better idea would be a terminal that could spawn a lair at your level, without a waypoint, but within tracking range. (I'll admit, I just stole this idea from another thread talking about the /track ability)
You guys are genuises at this. Maybe you guys should be devs.
Hey Calc, how much do the devs take into account what is here on the forums when they plan their next publish?

I/we don't know until the patch notes hit.

Hey, great link, thanks.
I'm familiar with the totem concept, I'm roomates with a WOWer I converted to SWG![]()
It's an interesting idea for camps that I think could work, and I suppose fairly similar to what I was saying, at least in effect. I'm going to have to think about some of those though, it's kind of a change from the way I'm used to thinking about camps (I'm still in the recovery and prep frame of mind).
I was a little opposed to the more gcw/battle oriented ranger camps at first, but now I'm not so sure. It's a little less outdoorsy feeling, but this is Star Wars, perhaps the direction that the high-tech ranger should take. I tend to think of these things from an RP perspective. In that respect I could see an army or squad having someone knowledgeable of the outdoors setting up field camps for them. Alright, going to try and collect my thoughts on that post:
-I like the idea of camps being more static, benefitting from them while you're hunting or fighting.
-I'm more partial to the camps that improve hunting and ranger/scout related skills over the more pvp/gcw camps. However, I think a little bit of movement in this direction would be a good thing. Rangers should be able to participate in gcw more than they do now, I think camps are an excellent way to do this.
-Extraction point sounds cool, may be hard for the devs to implement though.
All in all I do really like the ideas you put out there. I would be quite happy if the devs managed to implement evens some of those.
