i reading through these posts.. artirian ranger (or whatever the crap that is) we should all follow a code.. blah ... blah.. help your fellow ranger.. yak yak yak...

there has GOT to be some evil rangers out there... see the enemy.. kill the enemy.. steal the hide...take someone elses kill... do whatever u gotta do to beat out the other guy.... take a party out into the middle of no where on lok and lead them to there doom via "claiming ur leading them the right way with area track" hehe i did that today found a group of about 4 ppl on lok that were looking for a ranger to guide them to langlatches or something.. led them right into the heart of a giant dune kimo lair.. needless to say i was laughing and running the other direction while they got trampled on....

anyone else agree with my method of going about my rangering? if not thats ok.. just know this... if ur not imperial... and ur diong another thing like killing the same kind of creature that i am trying to kill.. (i dont care if ur 2000m awat from me.. if i get wind that your killing the same kind of creature that i am going for.. i will run to u.. and kill u... then dance on your body.. then leave whatever creatures u were killing alone and go back to my own lair...

but having said that ...

really i am a pretty nice guy... just dont get in my way....

Well, your one imperial ranger I won't think twice about killing... if you were on the same server as me that is.

Roleplaying an evil Ranger is fine, but don't Kill Steal, Scam, or otherwise Grief people to do it.

"Evil" Rangers are poachers, mercenaries, evil Imperial trackers, and other undesirable sorts.

Roleplaying an evil ranger is fine. But your example of getting a party killed by kimo's if you really did this. Is grieving plain and simple. I am trying too [read between the lines of your post]. But all i see is a Ninja looter deprived of their fun. since you can't steal their harvests from within their party anymore. So now you resort to just plain grief tatics. And as for your point i do believe, if there was an "evil" ranger organization. They would have some form of Code as well.

I don't see anything wrong with what Tersidre is doing. It's role play, pure plain and simple.

I don't trust smugglers, period, well one, and he has been my buddy since day one on here, but thats it. And I know how he hoses stupid people and imps.

If a party of "blues" comes up to me and asks me to lead them to a certain animal, I may, or I might find a nice pack of beasties to eat em. Depends on my mood, the time of the day, the lunar calendar, the tidal charts, and what I ate for breakfast. It's part of the game, like the clowns who sell lightsabers for 10k. Oh, nice decoration noob.

We can be all noble...but yanno, the Park Ranger stuff wears thin the 3d time some blue craps on ya after you helped him out. Would a passing other faction Doc heal you if you were incapped... maybe/maybe not. Being the eternal pessimist (the glass was never full to start with and is getting emptier by the day) I would side with Not.

Alas, I was a good guy once. Then the bluebird of happiness shat upon my head, and me without a hat.

So drive on with your bad self there Tersidre. Of course, when other people come to spit upon your incapped self, don't ask why. Oh, and DBs are a luxury, not an necessity, so be careful.

Me, I just take life one day at a time, and treat others as they treat me. Payback is NOT a baznitch, it's a lot worse.

Sorry but alot of grieving gets done with the mask of roleplaying! I am 40 years old and started playing games like D&D before there were even books for them. I know how too roleplay any Evil character. But when dealing whit lots of people that are paying to play this game just like you. You need too show some respect for the indivual. Even when roleplaying evil characters in DoaC and UO, i never stooped to "grief" tatics. IF you do stuff like that it's not roleplaying IMHO. It's being a grief player while usuing "RP" as your excuse. There is nothing you could not pass off as roleplaying with this thinking. There are somethings you just should not do period. If you care about anyone except yourself. their are many ways too roleplay evil while, having fun with out really hurting anyone. In his example he admits he really did it cause it was fun. He therefore enjoys other peoples misery. While this is a way an evil person might be. I say it's not appropriate for the MMPORPG seting.

I would never intenionly use tatics soley intending to get enjoyment out of someone's misery. And this is why i can RP an evil character, without Being the evil character. Those that choose too do this type of stuff and pass it off in the guise of roleplaying, will just be simple grivers IMHO.

I am a generally nice person in the game but one time when I was hanging out in my camp recovering from some wounds from a recent death, an overt rebel ran into my camp dragging a bunch of rogue corsecs with him. I asked him not to fight in my camp. Then he died and sent /tells to me complaining that I didn't even try to help him. I told him that I was an imperial and was also seriously wounded so there was no way I would have helped him. Not to mention that if I had, my camp would have auto-disbanded.

Anyway, I bet I am on THAT player's list of evil rangers.

I roleplay an evil ranger. But I haven't done anything yet I believe has spoiled another person fun. On the one hand, I agree that leading a party out to their deaths IS roleplaying. Seeing how the entire game isn't PvP, there are few ways to truly be evil. But SWG is also a game. A game's purpose is fun and roleplaying like that seems to make it more exclusively a roleplaying environment, less of a game. What fun would Galaxies be if it were truly like real life?

I would suggest roleplaying an evil character should take place more in the factional PvP portions of the game. But, then again, player bounties might be soon on their way =). Stopping selfish behavior seems to be the purpose developers had in mind for it.

Frankly Solidic I think you can play a Ranger as either a good or an evil character. It seems that most people (including myself) prefer to play as a good character, but if you choose to be evil (in a roleplaying sense, if a ranger is griefing people that's not cool) then that's a legitimate choice. I think any roleplaying (as this is a roleplaying game) is good as long as it doesn't involve, lead to, or cause griefing of other players.

So while I choose to play a nice guy if you're good at playing a bad guy, then all the power to ya man

Well, I ran into a Ranger today who isn't interested in joining the Antarian Rangers (the non-guilded group) because there are Imperials in the organization (as well as Rebels) and refused to be part of an organization that had Imperials.

Fair enough. I just think they are missing out on the opportunity for great information and the like.

Hehe, looks like we could be a great team hehehe on what server are U???
