Thread: Ranger changes and the most recent patch list
"Did I miss something or is it not going to be making this publish?"
Hmmm...
I think you are misinterpreting the intent behind the State of the Profession list.
The list contains issues and requests made by members of this Forum.
It is not a guarantee that everything on the list will be implemented.
The list is color coded now, so you can see which items are currently being worked on, and which items were escalated to the developers attention in the last Top 5 report.
Sorry to dash your hopes...
No, this has nothing to do with the State of the Profession list. There was a post a while back that talked about /areatrack, camo kits, and new camps/traps that were being added. I found the post here:

Ah... Well I saw you use the hunting camp and totally misread it. I presume you are refering to the hunting blind and not the hunting cabin proposal.
Then No... Changes to Camps and Traps are not in this month's update.
Hopefully they will be in next month's though. ![]()
Wister,
The Devs are still working on those changes, including the changes to trapping, adding /track, and the hunting camps.
It appears that they are adding new skills slowly, making sure they work, before adding new ones.

Wister,
Yup. It'll give you the chance to look for a specific kind of creature and then a waypoint to it.

If only that were true. Judging by the camo kit addition, "slowly" - yes, but the "sure they work" part is questionable.
This month's Ranger patch merelyfixes last month's Ranger patch.
We hope.

Our Dev is handling 7 of them.
There's the problem. You'd think Sony and Lucas would adequately staff such an endeavor, but apparently not.

Such is the way of application development.
My company sticks three of us to maintain a website that it takes one person an hour a week to maintain. They then take 10 developers and throw them at a project that really needs 20 or more. Watching what is fixed immediately and what takes time to get in also reminds me of what it is like at work. There are some bugs and changes that are inexplicably changed on the fly, up the next trading session, and don't go through the minimum three weeks of QA testing that the company mandates (yes, even for something that is a visual text change and not a functionality change). Why? I don't know.
I've learned not to focus on it. I try to think about what is good. The direction they're going for Rangers is wonderful and, in the 2 1/2 months I've been playing, the changes have kept my playing experience positive and interesting. I've got 20k of camping experience [kicks field base] until I'm at Master Ranger and I'm excited and kind of sad too: it's been a lot of fun (well, except for this darned camping stuff) and I hope that there is an elite-elite profession in the future.
