because I am about to have one of those forum "moments". I have been MIA for a bit with birth of the final installment of the Hamus clan (baby girl 7 lbs. 13 oz., 19 inches)
, and I come back to find:
That Bounty Hunters have had a Skill Point reduction??!! You have GOT to be kidding me!!
Why? Because they need more of them to keep the now rampant infestation of SWG's biggest money maker/time sink for the dev's the Jedi, in check? Bounty Hunter's aren't Uber enough? Give...me...a...break.
We invest 140 skill points for WHAT exactly. Camps that don't do what the dev written player manual that came with the box say they will do. Traps that don't work. Area track that works sporadically and camo that works ALMOST as well as the Master Scout mask scent. I won't even go into the harvesting rates.
All I've read from Just-G and The Master Politician of the Year Thunderheart is that they "feel the Bounty Hunter pain". What? At least their profession works! Are we going to stand by and let the l33t uber Bounty Hunter's cry their way to whatever they want? I want some attention to the Ranger Community and our profession right now. Not after JTL, not after the Combat Balance (which has ZERO to do with us), NOW. Let's start with the items that were on the agenda for us with GreenMarine, and that Thunderheart himself ACKNOWLEDGED were still there, to start with. The specific /track command, the new traps and camps. How about just fixing the camps....that would be a great start.
Thunderheart will not even acknowledge this thread I'm sure because of the tone, but I know he and Just G and the others lurk. I don't care anymore what Thunderheart thinks of me. I used to. After seeing the Bounty Hunters of all professions get IMMEDIATE attention and seeing the most patient forum/community in the game kicked to the wayside again, I have decided that its not worth being concerned about what the Developers think of me. They clearly have ZERO concern for the Ranger profession, or the players that play it.
It is time for the Developersto acknowledge this community and it's players. We have been patient for FAR too long.

Ahhhhh...Oppma is back
! Congrats on the girl! FWIW, the BH aren't terribly crazy about it either. They wanted fixes, not to be forced to get another profession to do thier job better.

This immediate attention they're getting will end up devaluing their class it would seem.
Yes it relaxes the constraints of a MBH, but it also opens the door to dabbling players that want to hunt Jedi with TKA skills (or whatever).
In effect, I think this quick fix will be the downfall of the Master Bounty Hunter, and the rise of the Melee Bounty Hunter (who are far more effective at the job).
Be wary of asking for quick fixes. They tend to go poorly.

In spirit I fully agree with you Oppma...
I see the disparity in the sense that the developers say they want more content, more challenge, more interactivity, more RPing, less grinding, less griefing, less l33tism... and yet they cater to the grinders, content avoiders, soloers, loners, and l33tists.
We rangers exemplify what the development intends this game to be....
and yet, for that we get told to keep waiting.

I try not to be negative on the forums, theres no need to unleash the amount of vitreol I have regarding this topic in this friendly setting.
so I wont...

Thanks Oppma you rock!

Congrats on the baby girl
I have a 5 yr old girl myself.
As for the Devs, what are we gonna do?
We have done everything but actually hack into the game and start coding the changes for them?
We have come up with ideas, fleshed the ideas out, even gone so far as to create the modifiers and adjustments for other classes in relation to OUR new skills.
ALL the Devs have to do is either read the forum, listen to Calc and spend MAYBE a day or two and we could get some instant small fixes, but it is obvious that SOE has taken EVERYONE off SWG and put them on JTL, which is poor management in my opinion, and we are left here for the next 3-6 months....waiting......

Am floundering a bit in the wilderness, trying to stick to the plan of getting MR but at the same time seeing other possible professions, or the time to grab them, slipping away.
Usually am pretty sanguine about my lack of PvP, heck even PvE ability but recently I seem to have been spending more and more time looking at the sky and watching my incap timer trickle back to zero.
/sob
I've even taken to... wearing armour and using buffs... and it just feels soooo wrong. I'm Wilderness Man not the fring Tin Man after all!

Congrats on a job well done =)
Glad to see that some of us take their development responsibilities more seriously than the SOE devs
