i was sat in a camp mindlessly doing nothing like you do, when a thought struck me that as a master ranger i should have the ability to run my own vendor. why at the end of the day of hunting and gathering hides, meats, etc should i go running all over the galaxy putting mysales on someones vendor, surely i should be able to sell them from my own home/shop, giving me more time to hunt..

YouCAN run your own vendor...pick up Businees 3 in Artisan. The Devs are not going to start handing out vendors to non-Merchant professions.
This falls under the 'Doctors need meat so they should be able to harvest without Scout' school of thought.

Yup.
I had a ranger shop once, made tens of millions and had no problems. If you want a shop go merchant. Or you could always pay someone else to host your vendor service.

true, I have to agree with the mightly Blue-Glowing names. I still think you should be able to put 25 items on EACH planet's baazar.... but i don't know how feasible that is.....

Best way to do it! At least that is my opinion. Have done that and have about 10 mil in the bank now. A little hard to setup at first, unless you know someone, but well worth it.

I just opened my own ranger vendor and I'm havinga ball running it.
I had to drop a few ranger skills *cringe* for the artisan skills, but I'm having fun and isn't that the whole point? Plus, once I unlock my jedi alt... merchant, here I come!
I don't think the skills should be integrated. There's serious gameplay value in not being able to master every profession at once. After all this is an mMorpg.
It is hard to set up. I had to geta tailor friend to make a line of ranger clothing for me and I'm still waiting for a few runs of food from a chef friend. The camo kits take a while to get all the resources for too... I still don't have talus or rori and I only have 2 corellian ones left.
The vendor has been popular thus far and the rangers on Naritus seem to enjoy it. I'm actually starting to branch out in to resource trading... buying resources and selling them. FS/jedi grinders tend to like this since they can make a few credits on the side while hunting critters for xp.

I didn't bother with the vendor thing, I simply struck up a mutually benficial deal with a guy who is a master armorsmith. I sell him resources that he needs at roughly 30 cpu everytime and in return he gives me armor when I need it.
Seems like the ole' bartering system works for me.

As Cryos knows, I've also set up a ranger vendor on Farstar and while it's still early days (two weeks approx), it has been going really, really well. Like Cryos' effort, we stock camo kits and so on and food and clothes (and having to work hard to keep relationships going with chef and tailor respectively as a result), and also run a 'resource gatherer' which allows people to drop off any size stack of resources for prices that we publish in the shop.
I have to say that I think it probably works because I have a nice, manageable market audience (rangers on farstar), I know a lot of them (or have friends of friends), and as a Ranger I have been there and know what we need.
From what I have heard, general resource vendors who sell bone, meat and hide to anyone who passes through have a much tougher time making it work. The big important resources still go via the trade forums and people aren't 'used' to going to vendors to buy stuff like this. I'm not saying don't do it, but do be aware of the problems. The resources we gather aren't sold in the shop - they get collated together and auctioned on the trade forums and then delivered by hand to whoever wins the auction.
Do a quick search for "vendor" in the Ranger forums and you'll find three or four threads from the last couple of months with lots of very good advice.

Try thinking of it from a roleplay point of view, who would be running your shop whilst you're out hunting?

They just need to take the max price off teh Bazzars. Leave the total number of allowed sales you can make. But let us place a 100,000 units of whatever on it for 5 million . That one restrictions would be awesome. Or add a 2nd level Bazzar for high end stuff. ie.. the current red ones like now. Then a different color one for unlimited pricing.

Nah, that'd slaughter the merchants then. They only get XP from running their vendors, if nobody needed to go looks see whats on them they'd have no incentive to pay to put them up or invest the SP in having them.
There's a bit of support in the merchant forum for an increase in the price cap, but beyond that I reckon you'd have a fight on your hands.
