Thread: Deleted again?

You and i must come very different civilizations! That thread, or at least some posts in it was far from civil. Heck, it was based on a giant rant/flame/troll post in the first place. As far as the link in the Smuggler forum getting deleted....uh...why was there ever one in the Smuggler forum? It probably deleted for being OT. If you want to discuss this, try starting a new post (obviously not in the Core Systems forum...but I couldn't tell you why) and don't have the first post and subsequent posts be big flames.

Are we taling about the same posts calc? The one I am talking about was by Dariane. It started in the Core, was generally civil.. one troll and then got moved to the ranger boards. Smugglers were linking to it from their board. Then once it was deleted a discussion of why was it deleted sprang up. And that post was deleted after owen asked for more information about the original post so he could make inquiries. I had just posted when that thread went poof.

Hey Mods.. whoever keeps deleting the posts referring to the Camo change post that was moved and deleted, could you give us the honor of just stating WHY you keep doing it? I'm sure that if some people were doing something against policy without realizing it, they would like to know.
Thanks.

then 50-60% of the threads on the BH and J3d3y3 boards would be deleted.
Why does it seem like rangers get the book thrown at them when we get the slightest bit rowdy, yet there are two entire forum communities that, if we're bad, they are the spawn of satan, and they can rant and flame allday everyday?

hey if you are refering to me as that troll, I wasn't trying to trolll, I was genuinly asking why shoud I care... I was hoping for some good answers... I got one, but I cant remember what it was, and now I cant get to see it either, and I was about to reply when it got deleted lol.
So, whenever I lose my temper Owen and Calc remind me that "we are known for presenting issues in an intelligent way, by providing evidence and logical explanations of our points of view and what could be done to correct it."
Do we really need to do that anymore? If they're just gonna delete it, then why should it matter?
Because we are gluttons for punishment. Look, I've got a scar here for when I critically failed a camp kit assembly, back in the old days of grinding survival like that. And, I've got another one here on my arm for using it as a shield against a nerf bat. Yes, even though nerf is a spongy material it can cut.

heh.. I don't think blue glowies can delete. So, no need to presume. I think it was clear that it was the flaming and personal attacks in the thread that probably got it deleted.

I'm thinkin' it was this information I posted. Let's see if this gets deleted, and put 2 and 2 together. It's from the previous 19 questions posts that Thunderheart used to do. They would group professions into 2 separate weeks, and each week would answer a question that came from each profession's correspondent. Again, like last time, red and bolded are TH's responses to the question.
Ranger - 4-29-04
In August of 2003, Holocron posted in the Ranger forum regarding the lack of uniqness to the Ranger profession. The post stated 'The focus of this post will be on how we are making Ranger different from scout. Ideologically, the ranger is still a "super scout."' This post then went on to list many ways to improve the Ranger profession. Since then we have had only two things implemented (/areatrack and /camo) from that list, and both of those were unintentionally nerfed. /areatrack is nullified by player cities, spawn rates and vehicles; /camo was broken in a patch so that it doesn't work on most NPCs and in general is worse (costs resources and breaks far too easily) than /maskscent, a Scout skill.
What are the plans, if any, to differentiate the Ranger profession from the Scout profession and will this happen in the form of a Revamp or can it be done via minipublishes/hotfixes?
There are many excellent points and the Ranger community has done an great job bringing many great ideas to the development team and the dev team has also been kicking around some ideas also. The plan is to improve their combat usefulness in the CB and address other items on the schedule under the “Correspondent Issues” umbrella. I know the answer will probably be seen as a little vague, but the truth is that we are focused on all of the item’s in JustG’s letter and that’s a huge development effort. We are focused on the things that have the biggest impact on all the players. On the brighter side, we do have a window of opportunity coming up for player correspondent issues and we will take a serious look at what can be done at that time.

"With the removal of the need for camps to call pets many Scouts and Rangers have begun to consider camping unnecessary, as everything they use a camp for (healing, calling pets, vehicles and mounts) is better accomplished through another game feature. What do the Devs see as the primary reason for calling camps in the wild, and what do they think is necessary to make camping a more useful skill in the game?"
That is a great question, especially since the core needs and design of camps has changed so dramatically. We think the best ideas we have to make camps more useful are from the community. One aspect to consider here though is that the scout profession is a novice profession and while some attention will be on making it a fun experience, the core effort will inevitably be placed on elite professions. That doesn’t mean we are going to abandon scouts for sure. As new players come into the game, these novice professions represent their initial game experience so it is important and we want to make it as fulfilling an experience as possible.

Do the developers consider any part of the "Outdoorsman" proposal viable? If so, which parts might possibly be implemented in the future?
Absolutely. I am a fan of the "Outdoorsman" proposal presented by the Ranger community and whenever an opportunity comes up, I have pushed it as an issue and will continue to do so.
Scout – 6-3-04
The /forage ability has been a longtime source of contention with the Scout community. After the Chef revamp, the usefulness of foraged items has dropped to almost nil. Scout foraged items are used a cheap pet food and for fishing, but rarely for anything else. What is the Developer intended function of /forage and is there a plan to upgrade the forage-able items to be more in line with the Chef revamp or to make the /forage command more useful?
There is no plan to change forage, but it is something the devs are open to. Having any changes made to novice professions is going to be a challenge, but I agree that this is something we should lobby for change on.
