The Ranger Profession is probably the best for me, since PvP doesn't interest me. If I want to kill other people, I'll fire up UT or UT2k3.

I want to go Master Ranger. My problem lies with my Weapon Skills. I want to do a good deal of damage, yet the points will be thin. The only other must is Medic, but just 2-0-3-0. I buy Stim B's and WoundPacks from a good Doctor friend, and I can stop my bleeding with FirstAid 2.

Could you post your professions here? It would be of great help to me!

Creature Handler and Pistoleer. There seem to be some good synergies between Creature Handler and Ranger. I'm still a low level Creature Handler and find that medical skills are a must, but that may change as I level up and can have multiple pets (i.e., being able to store damaged ones and calling out a fresh one.)

Obviously, I can't master all of these areas, but will have to pick and choose the more important skills. I'm interested to see how I end up by doing this.

I have to agree with the Ranger/CH synergy. I am currently at 2/3/2/3 in Ranger and climbing (so slowly <sigh> and have Creature Handler. At first I didn't like this, however when I was able to obtain a CL23 Sludge Panther and my usable (and solo ability) once again climbed....I was extremely happy. As for my combat professions, I have Master Marksman and Novice Sharpshooter. I usea sliced T21 for long range head shots and then I use an EE3 & a FWG5 for closer in work.

For combat purposes, both PvP and PvE, I choose CH/Pistoleer-Stances/Grips. I know it's not the most original idea, but I enjoy playing with that set up. I also minor in Medic with OC3, First Aid 2 and Pharm 1.

I agree as well - Ranger/CH/ and either pistoleer/rifelman.

You can use the CH skills to tame cowardly gurreks and then resell them to non-ch characters. For some odd reason, everyone wants a cowardly gurrek as a pet..

Oh, cool, can you still do that - non-creature handlers having cowardly gurrecks as pets? I thought they nerfed that and that you now can only transfer non-aggressives.

BTW, what's the practical difference between aggressives and non-aggessives? I guess I should ask this on the CH board, but considering so many rangers are CH as well... I gave my boyfriend a baby bantha the other day, thinking I was just giving him an amusing toy. To our delight and amusement, the baby bantha was perfectly willing to fight for him - watching it charge into battle was hilarious.

Cowardly Gurrecks are non-aggressive

I am Master Ranger / Creature Handler 2/3/1/4 and I love my twin hunting Dune Lizards, Lahmu and Lahamu.

I am a Ranger (3,4,3,4), CH (3,3,3,4) and Medic (4,4,4,0) at the moment. This equates to zero combatskills but it allows me to be a Group Leader, Field Medic and Tank Supplier in Groups. I am enjoying it. By the weekend I hope to be Master Ranger, Master Creature Handler and Medic (3,3,4). This leaves exactly zero skill points. Good luck.

I took up some of the Rifleman tree, and while I was planning to master it have instead decided to get a majority of the Medic tree.

A lot of people are saying Ranger / Creature Handler, and while I'm two boxes from Master Gunfighter, I plan to master CH next.

Why? One, you will never lack for pets. For one, you can conceal yourself, walk right into the lair, and take the baby. Two, you find animals much faster than anyone else with /areatrack and the soon to be /track command. I'm already useful for CHs who need to find specific animals with areatrack. There are about 720,000 square meters in a 500 meter radius, and it can take a long time to run around the entire area compared to what a Ranger can identify in 15 seconds it takes to areatrack.

I play as a Master Ranger , creature handler and rifleman.

With conceal shot I fire at creature untill it either aggro's me or is almost dead, then sick the pets on it.

Of course this doesn't do me much good when a mnt squill warps on top of my melon and I have a rifle in my hand

I've found the value of 2 plains tusk cats great for defensive value.(when hunting on any basic world) only cl16 you max ch xp on kaadu's/gualama's and still be able to 3-4 shoot them with hs3

If I hit any of the harder worlds out comes a mix of Greater Sludge Panter's /Grand Wrix's / Crimison Razor Cat's / Female Nargalatch's or Razor Cat's. Camp and Swap em out when they start getting low on ham.

Now rifleman do allow some nice things but everything is everyone's own views, stick with what makes ya happy. I love my rifle, of course I have every rifle made in my pack (no t-21's on server yet, and dlt20) and swap em out as I run across differant creatures resistances and armor. use the cdef rifle for mind1/mind2, laser for hard hiting headshots, e11 rifle for pet support, swg82 for energy resistance's, jawa for cold resistances. and a D18 pistol as back up

It is quite a rush to be standing in a pack of merek's trying to tame a baby, or next to a lair of graul's. Ranger has allowed me to enjoy some of the finer aspects of Creature Handling.

Master Ranger / Bounty Hunter 0-0-4-3

Unfortunately, I have no medic skills. The pistol skills and Lightning Cannon will have to keep me healthy!
