What a major set back for Rangers and Scoutstoday!!!

  1. One problem - this will make the outside of the city look like a ghetto with all the camps being setup there. Everyone and their pet is looking to get their survival exp up and will be clustered around the major entry points!

  2. This is my major beef - because of number one, the Scout and Ranger professions will be further cheapened since survival exp will be so easy to get now. One of the things about reaching Master was the fact that you and everyone else knows you worked your ass off camping out there in the 'wilderness"! I don't exactly consider camping outside the city in some tent ghetto the "Wilderness"!! How the hell do you get "Wilderness Survival" points from that!!

The Ranger profession is already weak enough as it stands. Our only consolation are the great field bases we can make. At this rate, everyone will be climbing up the survival ladder in no time and our high-level camps will become commonplace whereas now they at least still draw some ohs and ahs!

I for one am very PO'd with this new development and consider it a SERIOUS set back for us rangers!! Basically all that time I spent camping was just a waste because soon it won't mean crap!!

All you Master Scouts and Rangers - raise your voice now or your hard work won't get the respect it deserves!

Um....

Personally, I would LOVE to be able to camp within the non build zones. Especially around those cities like Theed, which have HUGE no build zones.

I don't see why removing this roadblock is going to produce a massive influx of people into our profession. If they have the points for camping, then all the power to them.

Zkull, you obviously never tried to find a suitable campsite anywhere near Dearic, Talus. That is where I started and I thought it was normal to have to go out 3K+ meters from town to be able toset up a camp. Then one day I decided to visit Tatooine and discovered I only had to go out 1000 meters (sometimes less) and was able to camp just fine.

OH GIVE ME A BREAK !!!

You are whining because something has changed in the process from the time you went through the same process? How utterly selfish is that???

This change in no way cheapens the Ranger or the Scout as a profession. All it does is deny you, the high and mighty Master Leveler, errrrr, Master Ranger the chance to lord your camping trials and tribulations over other rangers you haven't the time or temperement to sit at our PCs for 16 hours a day palyign SWG.

/sarcasm on

"Well, sonny, in my day we had to camp in the wilderness, amongst the animals and everything. Yeah, they were yellow, no they didn't attack. But that's not my point. In MY DAY, we couldn't even see the city skyline I tell you. That made us REAL rangers, not like you wimps today. "

/sarcasm off

Here's a news flash for you. This is an MMORPG which means in a year all kinds of things will be different than when YOU earned your Master level.

Get used to it or get more cheese to go with that whine.

Yeah this dude defenitely doesn't know what he's talking about. Your still not going to be able to camp inside city limits, so you still have to walk about 100-200 meters outside of a city. Blocking major entry points??? I don't quite think so.....

I haven't logged on to see the fix yet, but this is great if it's true. I've always wondered why camps couldn't be constructed in the no build zones around cities. Is the ground so hard that a few tents stakes can't penetrate a few hundred meters out? Is the ground metal?

Well it seems that I have misunderstood the concept of 'wilderness' and the art of camping. Obviously my interpretation is different than what seems to be the majority of you.

And yes, I am whining! Each of the professions has a grind and camping is the grind for scouts/rangers. I've always had respect for all the masters knowing full well they worked their butt off to get there - regardless of how they did it or how much time they spent online. Heck, I just consider them lucky to be able to spend that much time and I'm sure if you had the chance, you would be right there next to them (AFK)! So does that mean we should speed up the game so you can reach the same level within the few hours you have time to spend? From the replies I see, it obviously does!!

Heck, why don't we just give you Master right now - that way you won't have to spend anytime camping - or playing for that matter!!

And I never said they 'blocked' the entries.......

Zkull can I ask what planet you spent most of your camping time on? Because I am sure it wasn't Talus, around Dearic specifically. Heck, I spent more time LOOKING for a decent camp site there than I did actually camping.

Alisa

Totally agree with you, though my issues were with Theed on Naboo.

Had a frustrating time trying to set up a camp for a passerby who wanted to the respawn their droid. Ran for 2 minutes out of town and immediately hit the deluge of buildings just at the edge of the no build zone. After that, I had to RUN even farther out to find a space to deploy the camp.

What a nuisance
