Thread: Shipwrights and their Dev interact the way we should be able to

Well apart from the fact Shipwrights dont have "Their Dev" then your spot on ![]()
Rangers dont have a dev, shipwrights dont have a dev. I mean, come on, even Jedi dont have a dev assigned to them although problem is, jedi have so manyforce sympathetic devswoo'd by sabers without care for the greater good of the game they may aswel have one.
I have great great respect for him. Unlike others he comes in, makes a statement or promise and everyone knows he genuinely means it. Others have lost that creditibiltity to the point that any statements they make become a joke in passing

And you can call him Darth Platypus. At Fan Fest he said and I quote, "They can take space mining out of my cold dead hands." He has taken it upon himself to be THE Shipwright developer. He would specifically and personally take responsibility for bugs with the profession that were brought up at Fan Fest as well. If only every profession had someone so dedicated. He got a LOT of respect from people there, even if simply for the fact that he owned up to things being his fault. He'd take it like, 'Sorry, my fault, I'll look at it as soon as I get back.' You can't really be mad at him after that, you just gotta respect that he's stepping up to the plate and making an effort to get things right.
Just because one devs takes it upon themselves to lean towards a certain profession or area of the game doesnt make him/her that profession's dev. Blixtev is a Jedi fanboy and seems to only see sabers and the force but that doesnt mean he's the jedis dev, just someone who favours jedi over all other professions. It seems the same case with Plat. He isnt their dev but he wants to get involved with the profession.
Whatever his boss tells him to do, he will have to do. Was the same case with GM. He was working on Ranger Revamp and loved doing it but then was told to work on cities, vehicles and then JTL so off he went.
even if that weren't the case... JTL iscompletely differentthan the ground game...Darth Platyis theSPACE dev...
it just so happens that shipwright isa weird ground/JTL crossover, and it makes sense that it would be him to work on it... the changes he's talking about effect space mining and ship components (directly effecting pilot and shipwright professions)... just because the conversation takes place in the shipwright forum doesn't mean he belongs to any one profession...

Part of me is happy for Ships Writes and Pilots, but part of me is a bit disappointed that it takes a dev with a personal interest to get things working as they shout be.
Yep, and its that what pisses me off so much. Jedi have a few high level devs who worship the force, couple that with the marketing team and boom, jedigalaxies. I would love it if a team were assigned to a collection of professions (say 5 professions in each) and then work done by that team impacts those professions.
For instance,
1: Scout, Ranger, CH, Squad Leader, Doc and CM would fall into our team.
2: Marksman, Carb, Rifle, Pistol, Smuggler, BHand Commando fall into the other
3: Brawler, Pikeman, Swordsman, Fencer, TK and Light/Dark Jedi into the other team
4: Artisan,Bio Eng, Architect, DE, Chef,AS andWS into one
5: Entertainer,Polititian, Dancer, Musician, ID, Tailorin last
Even combine the teams so:
1 + 5, 2+3 and then 4 on its own. Anything so you have resources being plugged into professions that oh so often devs ignore because they are moths to the lightsaber shaped lamp.

Although they're a weird mixture that needs to cross both into the Scout and the Crafting professions to get proper attention. Mainly the crafting, but they have important concerns centering around scouting.
