Thread: At the crossroads
I am also in the same position you are. No word from the Devs, no word from the Corries from the Devs, nothing concerning our profession at all.
I might end up leaving the profession myself. I'd hate to be a FotM'er, but this profession is centered around catering to others and not enough around our own profession. Harvesting has gone down in cpu since the combat upgrade to an embarassing level. I saw someone take 200K units of milk at 10 cpu from a chef contractor today, and didn't know whether to cry or feel nothing. Tracking is not worth the time, in my opinion, unless you are a CH looking for a lair, a looter, or a DNA sampler like myself for the time being. Camps aren't worth mention anymore. Traps were handed out to everyone and don't seem as beneficial as they once were.
I may end up going to another profession until our fabled revamp, and keeping an eye on D and D online and BF 2.
I find myself doing the same.
For the past two months I ahve flown mastered 8 of 9 squadrons.
But there is so much I want to do but everytime I try it comes back to I am a glorifed CL54.
Master Ranger right now is not bringing much to the table for me.
Master Combat Medics and Doctors have more defense mods than I.
At 246 skill points I am limited to not not getting hit when I hunt. A noble Ideal indeed, although at times not practical.
I watch the FOTMs memebers of my guild run around and I have to rely on them keeping me alive on major Guild hunts.
Pre-CU I was valued for my rifle and ranger skills, Now I am a liability.
Ranger revamp well we know Sony is not going to do any revamps anymore. Just publishes addressing problems.
It appears that Rangers and Squadleaders are so insignifcant we don't show up on any scopes to be fixed. We are truely the red headed step children of SWG.
I don't see a need to combine classes, I never did. Now I think along the lines of deleting these two classes and dropping what skills work into the Scout skillset buffing them up.
Sony has zero commitment to fixing Rangers. We are not Star Wars Galaxy material, We are not Jedi, Bounty Hunters, nor Smugglers.
Instead Rangers are a failed experiement that Sony has abandoned hoping that we will just go away.
I want to remain a Ranger but justifying it is becoming harder and harder.
Its not a lifestyle, thats is just a bull line to justify staying Ranger.
Instead Ranger has become an expendable skillset no longer fitting neatly within the framework of the Star Wars Galaxy.
Not a nerf bat thats going to be swung but an eraser.
Do what you gotta do, if you can't take it, move on. Some are just more stubborn than others at falling off the ranger skill tree.
I left the game for eight months (right after JtL) and it was probably the best thing I could have done. Even though I continued to follow the boards, it gave me time to forget the problems and for more conent to be added. I had to relearn a lot of things, but they came back quickly and it helped make the game feel fresh again.

Try creating a totally different sort of toon and just use it as a 'respite'. I know that after playing my Rebel MR/MRM for long enough it was blimmin good fun to go run an Imp Artisan/Entertainer and another Imp who ended up BH/pistoleer and is slowly picking up bits of... ranger, lol

Or, pay up your Rangers rent for a month or three, park him in a retirement home and go holiday on another server.

Good advice. I have a combat medic/rifleman on sunrunner that's fun to play whenever I get those ranger-goin'-nowhere blues. Sunrunner Rangers, where are you? I never see any around.
stay away...
from the...
hawt side
They lurk you know, waiting to pounce, like ninjas but less well dressed and without the 'coooool' factor.
I am all most gonna 'take the path', and i worry about not being a Ranger anymore. I wonder how long it will take me to get my alt up to Ranger/TKM...that is what I will allways be.
I want a Jedi...not a jedi-diot...and I will get it one day, but as you say 'my guild'. That's reason enough. That's reason enough to play. The wonder on a n00b's 'chat'(face, i can picture it)when ya make a HTFB out in the wilds of...well..anywhere....and say take a break, I will be here when ya get back. Just don't take to long....but still allwaysa Ranger.
