Ranger Archive

Title might be a bit confusing, but I'm curious, how many ranger folk really spend alot of time on a planet and come to "master" it?

I live on rori, got invited to a city on my first day. I've never looked back. Rori is like a paradise for me as a wilderness type. The planet is so unpopulated I love it. Only 2 npc cities, and 2 player cities, and a small budding town. I can walk out of my home, hang a left, and i'm just out in the wild. Just me and the creatures.

I've come to know the many species of Rori very well. I know they're habits, methods. I have almost every creature memorized for there drops, and I'm on my way to knowing what state effects they apply. I just feel like when I'm on Rori, i'm invincible. I know how to handle the wilderness, when a situation is going to be to much etc....

And I'm slowly becoming this way on dantooine as well. I just feel this is the very spirit of the ranger, just knowing how to handle the wilderness, how to make your way in a hostile world outside the confines of civilization.

Back when I was still a Ranger(and hopefully I will return) I liked to hang around on Yavin. This was before the POI badges and vehicals, so people didn't venture on those planets as much, and less people knew about the different POI. I would often trek to the old rebel base Temple, as it was abandoned except for two Imperial NPCs, or I would sometimes go wandering for different static ruins. I liked to hunt at the Woolamander(sp?) Palace often as well, but know I would be surprised if I could stay there 2 hours without seeing someone else, same with most of the other POIs. But those days are over, it is sad, I liked being the knowledgeable one on a planet and having others ask me about POIs, instead of having a WP to one.

there have been times i have navigated via landmarks on lok.... and im still trying to clean the dirt out of my pants..

I spend nearly all of my time on Dathomir, with occasional trips to Coronet and Theed, for things I need. I like to hunt, and just wander the planet. I just get fed up with all of the player cities and random buildings on most of the planets.

Im on my way to becoming a "master" of Tatooine. I cant decide why, but theres just something about Tatooine, it just feels like my characters home. Judging by how popular the planet is, Id say many feel that way, but I can honestly say nothing gives me greater joy than wandering down to Wayfar from Mos Entha, searching for that elusive Wasteland Cu Pa, or taking a quick jaunt up the western mountain ranges in search of Banthas.

I do like Rori, but after spending so long in the bright desert sun, it feels a little too dark and dank for me, I cant stay there for extended periods. Im considering putting down my own little retreat there though, I need a new house to decorate(I love decorating).

I hope to, one day, know enough to think of myself as a "master" of all the planets, but thats going to take a very very long while, and Im happy with Tatooine in the meantime

I know Tatooine so much I can tell you where every sand dune and junked sandcrawler is at, well maybe not all of them. I have spent the most time on Tat ever since beta when I the transport shuttle first dropped me offat the Bestine starport. I would like to start getting to know Lok better but have not been able to get much of a chance because my Nym's faction is -4000 to -5000.

Same here, big Dathomir fan. There are a couple of spots people could place harvesters but they haven't seem to found them yet. 2 small outposts are usually the only sign of civilization. Do hope some BH's come in some day to bring down the jedi population though, they seem to be going at it like rabbits. More and more everyday

Perfect scout/ranger planet, half the agroes can be dumped by just walking up the cliffs. Petting Rancors is a fun daily pastime and most the creatures drop amounts of resources which should be the standard amount. These days on eclipse I can even find buffing docs and entertainers in the science outpost so I don't even have to go offworld anymore. Now gimme my hunting cabin so I can store some more supplies and I'm a happy camper.

But I'm still a long way from being a "master" of the planet.

Just recently I found myself making runs to all the planets in search of the HOT STAT RESOURCES!! I now releaze how I have began to benifit from knowing what dropped what!!

So I am TRYING to become the MASTER of them all!! Better question how many of you have WP with stuff like GIANT PEKO, GOOD HUNT_1, GIANT_DUNE_KIMO, or the just plain HERB_HOLE!! Sure some dissapear, but more stay than you think. I can take you to 5 different GIANT DUNE KIMO HOLES and they all will be there!!

Has anybody else found a spot on the western edge of Tatooine where there are ship animations in the sky like you see around the cities with starports? I stumbled across this on one of my treks and was wondering if it was a permaglitch or just a tempaglitch. Personally I would have to go with tatooine also, nothing beats banthas and tuskens - I just wish there was more of them.
