here's the link. Hey, if I posted more often, I'm sure I could bother figuring out the real HTML link.

Did I miss something I thought They were posting aswers. What I read sounded like "hey sure we have that document you wrote and we'll get to it some time after hell freezes over". HAVE A NICE DAY!!!

They seem to do just enough to keep us paying every month.

I get the feeling that we have now progressed beyond "The Outdoorsman" in several aspects. I hope we are not "settling" for lesser things...

"Ranger

Do the developers consider any part of the "Outdoorsman" proposal viable? If so, which parts might possibly be implemented in the future?

Absolutely. I am a fan of the "Outdoorsman" proposal presented by the Ranger community and whenever an opportunity comes up, I have pushed it as an issue and will continue to do so."

yeh, checked out some of the questions/answers a bit ago... seems rangers aren't the only ones asking the "what are we?... can you tell us, please?" type questions...

little disappointed that the second part to our question wasn't addressed... but then, it was an old question (about 3 weeks)... i'm guessing the question we just submitted will be answered in 2 weeks, despite the fact that it overlaps with this one... really hard to ask a second question on a topic, when they haven't answered the first one yet...

all i get from reading this current set of answers is "be patient"... or maybe "your call is important to us... /startmusic muzac"...

but i'm an optimist... and i believe TH when he says he's pushed it as an issue, and will in the future... i guess that's good to know...

Rangers: "What the hell am I looking at? When does this happen to rangers?"

TH: "Now! You're looking at 'now,' sir. Everything that happens now is happening 'now.'"

"What happened to 'then?'"

"We passed it."

"When?"

"Just now. We're at now 'now.'"

"Go back to 'then.'"

"When?"

"Now."

"Now?"

"Now!"

"I can't."

"Why?"

"We missed it."

"When?"

"Just now."

"When will 'then' be 'now?'"

"Soon."

"How soon?"

eh...

Just my humble opinion, but....

Can someone put a bullet in the horse that is the Outdoorsman Proposal? Poor thing has a broken leg and is going nowhere. Let's put it out of itsmisery and find a new horse to ride.

Like Fred mentioned, and I am inclined to agree with, perhaps we have moved past the Outdoorsman now and need something new.

Again, just my humble opinion.

Ok, Ok well I am still a little optimistic (hey Ranger Twi'lek here). I can infer/guess ona few things...

1) TH likes the idea of the "Outdoorsman" proposal
Well at least that is better than "No we are not interested". And will hopefully open the channels for a some major improvements.

2) Looks like there is an understanding that something needs to be done for Rangers.
At least there is some ackwnoledgement that we are in the major need of SOMETHING.

3) We will eventually get the question honed to a point that all we can get is a yes or no answer.
How good can we get at asking the same question?

I think this might not float on the top of the lake, but hey I can TRY cant I? I dont know why but I am optimistic today, but I reserve the right to edit my post in a few hours to put the flame on.

you know... i think a lot of us has been thinking this for a while now... i think the only reason we still use it is because, (A) it has a catchy name, (B) it is a serious, detailed document describing proposed changes, (C) the work has already been done, all we have to do is point at it when we talk about certain issues...

we've had a ton of great ideas since the outdoorsman proposal, and yet we haven't updated it or created a new proposal to replace it with... the thing most disappointing about the question that got asked is that it doesn't reference anything we've come up with since january...

i'm all for putting a bullet in the outdoorsman... thing is, i think it's already dead and all we've been doing is beating it... maybe it's time we either updated it, or wrote up a brand spankin' new proposal to push...

From the carbineer answer:

"Conceal: Allows a rifleman to attack a creature without it attacking them. A higher skill modifier improves this chance."

He's either mistaking conceal and take cover (unlikely, as he mentions take cover seperately), or he has forgotten that ranger exists...

Scene: Small pet shop, interior.

Enraged customer: "This is a classic mushroom answer. It doesn't commit SWG to anything. It's a personal pleasanty. It's too vague to be taken seriously. It's DOA. This answer is optimized to be content-free. It has significant amounts of faecal matter in it. This answer is beyond repair. It is a reflection of the vast importance of the Ranger profession in the eyes of the devs. It is pitiful, somebody should put it out of its misery."

Clerk: (mumbles) "No, no, I'm just pressed for time because I'm flying off to the fan fest. Free beer, female geeks, you know..."

Enraged customer: (bangs the answer on the counter a few times) "This answer is NO MORE! It has passed away! It's gone to meet its maker! This answer is DEAD!"

*Loves John Cleese and Mel Brooks*

I don't take any of the 19 Questions seriously. A good question is never going to get an answer because they only give them if they have it almost ready to test. They assume we cannot tell the difference between speculation on possibilities and solid fact, so they simply won't do it.

Take one of last weeks questions for example (I think it was the Jedi). They were about to push it to Test Center and he replied they did not have it fully developed yet so he couldn't give an answer.

The questions are a fun diversion. We might get one or two good nuggets out of them, but don't expect much.

Oh I forgot:

I don't think that the problem is the Outdoorsman proposal. It has some strong points and some weak points. It can be improved or taken as a starting point.

The problem is that the SWG team, for whatever reason, is unwilling to put dev resources behind a Ranger revamp. It probably has some commercial validity, we cannot be sure without more marketing data. Only fearures that add new customers or prevent existing customers from leaving are commercially important. Ranger profession is probably not enough to entice new customers into trying SWG, and we are few enough that our dissatisfaction is insignificant.

There are ways of changing the parameters of that equation, but they are distasteful. (Basically causing enough inconvenience for the SWG team to "swat the fly away".) Unfortunately
being nice never seems to be effective in such situations.

These 19 questions never answer anything but it is even worse when TH ignores one of our questions all together. I would have added a "when" in there too but I guess it doesn't matter when they don't bother answering what we did ask. This is so frustrating.
