Hello all - if you are using a harvesting droid and are starting to get annoyed that it always seems to ignore your first command, try the following macro:

/tellpet [harvestcommand];

/pause 1;

/tellpet [harvestcommand];

This usually gets the droid going towards the right target and it saves you the hassle of repeating yourself. It also doesn't flood spatial with a lot of spam.

[harvestcommand] is, of course, your droid's harvesting command -- for /tellpet to work, though,this has to be more than one letter.

I wrote this this weekend and it made the droid so much more useful - hope it helps those of us who are now hunting with droids.

Thanks for the tip! I will have to try that out when I get home. I usually have to tell my harvest droid twice what to do, hopefully this will help.

Bought a harvesting droid for 60K with claims of 100 per cent harvesting.

Went hunting with it.

The droid harvests the same amount of meat that I harvest without using the droid.

I wonder if I can get my money back.

If a scout with a harvesting droid can harvest as much as a Master Ranger then why be a Ranger at all?

Become a Master Commando with novice scout and a droid. That way you'll be able kill and harvest many more creatures in very short time..You would also be able to solo hunt the adventure planets.

unfortunately if you're a master ranger, a 100-rated droid will harvest exactly what you do. Anything less than 100 will harvest less than you do, and anything more than 100 will harvest more than you do. Yes, a 100-rated droid will help someone with less harvesting skills than it will us, and yes, I think this is backward too. If anything, we should see a bonus with a lower-rated droid (since our skill level is so high, the droid should not have to be rated really high to compensate for our skills).

What you should do is try to exchange or trade in the 100-rated droid for one that is rated higher (it gets challenging to build them above the 100-level though) and see if that helps. I have a 113 rated droid and it does yield more than I would normally harvest. I have another ranger friend that uses a 104-rated droidand he says he sees only a slight increase though.

I'm not sure what your combat prof. is, but if you are a rifleman the droid is useful because it lets you stay stationary while the droid harvests.

Right the rating is equal to your harvesting ability its not a bonus. The value of a harvesting droid is that it can harvest while your still fighting. Since the corpses only last a couple minutes on some planets. Its good to have the ability to do this. Also i would recommend getting your harvesting droid with 1 combat module. So it doesnt run 80m away while your in battle and you need it to harvest for you. You will lose some of the harvest bonus. But its worth it instead of chasing it all over the place. Especially when your a brawler

do u have to click each individual corpse for the droid to go harvest it, or do the droids do an entire area off of 1 command?

I used the macro last night and it works like a charm. Thanks again. I don't know about using the /tellpet tho yet. I kinda like the words I say to my pet to come up on the spatial. I use that to keep track of whether the droid has harvested the last corpse I sent it to yet. Maybe I will put a small letter in there at the end of the macro.

Wow, two more reasons to support my theory that harvesting droids suck.

1. You have to tell it everything twice

2. They harvest no better than you do (but anyone who reads the forums knew that, unless the ability is over 100%)

Coupled with their inability to fight, or repair - I as again - why bother. I am dropping 3 torturs, one entire wave, with my droid, in like a minute max. All 3 aggro'd at once. They die, I harvest, I tap the lair... and soon there is 1k of hides and 6k credits in my pocket.

Still have yet to see a cogent arguement on why I should get one. Remember, I am pistols and I know tactics, I don't mind being up close and personal, I live through it - and my harvests don't disappear.

Well i just picked up one.

Didn;t know much about them and like the above mentioned, thought it harvested in a area.

It sucks having to click on each corpse to have it harvest. Then after 1 lair having to add another battery.

IDEA - Harvest area command on auto corpse of creature.

Droids were created to make the game fun. They are not at all usefull for anything.

I guessing this 'fun factor' is why droids were introduced. Oh, they don't work, that's no fun

And where is my 103-rated camp droid?

Sad to say that harvesting driods are just one more of the ever-growing number of things that I simply ignore, along with custom painted vehicles, forage, camps, player mounts, milking, egg collecting, crawl speed, yadda, yadda, yadda......

Well - JB the droid is great if you're a rifleman. No more getting up to wander around and harvest, etc... -- as a pistoleer the droid was only marginally useful, as I was running around anyway, and I used my tanking droid a lot more. But now that I'm arifleman and I can kneel in one place and take down things before they even see me, the droid is much more of a help. Yes, it's a pain because it doesn't listen half the time (but how is that different from hunting with actual players, lol), and it's not smart enough to harvest automatically, but I was getting 5-10 more units per creature with it on Lok the other night, and when people are paying 100 cpu for Lok avian that's 500-1000 more credits per creature. Definitely worth the hassle in my book.

Besides, I've named mine Harvy, and who could hate a droid named Harvy ( < this is the cogent argument you asked for :smileysurprised

I'm not sure why people are saying that their batteries are running out so quickly - mine last for at least an hour, and maybe more since I store the droid between missions.

As a rifleman, I use my harvesting droid quite a bit as well. It's nice top be able to sit back 60m away from the lair, and never have to get up and move to harvest. Even if the bonus isn't that huge, it does add up after time. I was hunting Corellian Avian Meat last night, and finished up the night with 10k units. The droid was pulling 2 units moreof meat off a carrion spat than I could. Sure it hardly seems worth it when you look at just 2 units...but after 10k units, it adds up nicely. Assuming I could usually pull 22 units myself, I would have to kill 454 carrion spats. With the droid pulling 24 units, I only had to kill 416. That's probably three more lairs I would have had to hunt down - so in the long run, I think it saved me a great deal of time.
