Thread: Disbanding Camp Macro using /duel

I just went through Scout and Ranger camping. I'd set my wife and I's computers up through the night with about 24-48 camps. I'd wake up with camp xp capped and would train up in the morning. This used ALOT less resources than trying to craft my way through camping and still only took a couple nights for the ranger tree.

I used this to 'disband' the camps every 6-7 minutes disbands a camp using the 'disbanded due to combat' rule.

You need 2 people (although I saw a 1 person more complicated one that involved sending a pet to pull a creature for combat). Mine seemed alot safer and more reliable. (be sure to unequip guns so you don't kill your assistant)

Here's mine... park each other next to each other in melee range.

the assistant camper macro: duelloop
/duel <camper name>;
pause 15;
/peace;
pause 15;
/macro duelloop;
(repeats the macro)

the camper macro: duelcamploop
/macro camp; (a seperate macro named 'camp' that hits the hotkeys to cycle through camps loaded into the hotkey slots using /ui action toolbarPaneXX and /ui action toolbarSlotXX)
/pause X; (I was doing 420 for a 7 minute camp)
/duel <assistant camper name>;
/pause 1;
/target <assistant camper name>;
(accepts duel and starts combat)
/pause 1;
/attack;

/pause 30; (lets combat continue for 30 secs, enough to disband the camp due to combat)
/endduel <assistant camper name>; (ends combat)
/pause 1;
/peace;
/pause 120;
(waits 2 mins for the camp to vanish)
/macro duelcamploop; (starts macro over and deploys a camp)

And what did you learn about Scouting and Rangering while camping like this?

Any good stories about hunts you went on? Any cool creatures you solo'd? Get a lot of other XP for a combat profession while camping like this? Catch any fish, or loot for that matter, while camping?

guess not

We are not impressed.

yawn.... happy grinding

That took me an entire weekend back in the day.

I'm not trying to gain your friendship, praise or esteem. I'm trying to share a tip for people who wish to complete the camping tree in ranger and gain their title as master ranger.

I 'legitimately' camped scout and ranger I on hunts. These are the stories I gained (I hope these stories are good enough for you *rolls eyes*)...

I camped because it was raining and we might wander into a dangerous Rori bog in the poor visibility, because our boots were wet from trudging through puddles and pools, because we'd just finished destroying a lair of Ravenous Tortons and we were exhausted after the efforts of skinning the gargantuan beasts, because someone suffered a terrible wound and was bleeding so it was best not to move him until the bleeding stopped, because I was poisoned and a crude field dressing needed, to mourn the loss of a fallen comrade who I tried in vain to rescue, because ranger Jael was going to teach me to make sturdier tents that would hold up in the wind, because someone was going to meet us in the deep dark of night and the beacon of our campfire might help him find his way, because we just had to cook up some Ikopi steaks, because a storm trooper had hidden himself in the hollow of a large Endorian redwood and we could cut the tree down in our camp and deal with this scoundrel, because men are not to be piled atop each other like a bundle of sticks like in the convoluted alleys of cities.

I camped AFK through II, III, IV because I felt guilty stopping my group of friends and robbing them of their precious playing time which they'd so many times given to me, because I wouldn't craft away all the resources needed to 'grind' through camping, because I only have so much time remaining to complete my 3rd holocron profession, because I didn't feel it was worth 'my' precious game time.

I'm sure you feel frustrated that 1/4 of your ranger skills come in the form of camping which many now consider to be an obsolete skill. I share this frustration. The encroachment of player cities into the wilds and camp/call restrictions being removed have left the camping skill in it's current requirement ... taxing. But hey, no one asked for my opinion (or yours... take your flames elsewhere).

Go away, come back when you give enough respect to your profession not to cheat and exploit it unnecessarily.

damn guys, back off a bit on the harsh attitude.

Ranger was my chosen profession from day 1. this was back at launch. It took me forever to get there, since no-one was tough enough to take on rancors and harvest for max exp, traps were horrible, and camping was the worst.

It took me over a month to get my camp exp up after being ready to master the class, having maxed trapping, and scout exp.

This was before the trapping exploits of throwing wiremesh traps multiple times on the same mob.

I did it the hard way...i'm sure many of us who have been around since launch did.

However, that being said, I appreciate the way he's come up with to autodisband a camp. would have made life a lot easier.

If you wanna whine and flame, go ahead. You will sound bitter, and childish....

so please... before you flame, realize what an annoying ahole that will make you appear...

The dev team would never allow any kind of imbalance so that one group of people would "cut swaths" through crowds of people.

he's just trying to help guys. no need to blow your top. sure you rangers that always group may get lots of xp, but what about us solo guys? i'd get a few wounds, throw up a camp and get 1000xp in about 20 minutes. oohhhh, only 60 more camps and 1200 more minutes to go(and that's just frontiering IV). and i'd throw up camps about twice a day. so a month toget frontiering IV? i think not. camping sucks. there's no way around it. i mean, how exciting was it for me to sit there all by myself for 20 minutes? not very.

campsmarter not harder.

It just annoys me when people who think they represent the class well use exploits like that. And yes, thats an exploit. If the devs wanted the camps to be disbanable with a command, we'd have one. Instead, if you've found an exploit around it because you're too lazy to play within bounds.

I agree with Enbow.

I made Master back when it took 80k of camping. I did my last camp the morning the patch changing the xp totals went in, and literally sprinted to the trainer (there were no other Master Rangers on my server then, not that I knew of) to get trained before server shutdown. No macros, no AFK while sleeping. I had a buddy going for Master Smuggler and another going for Doctor. We hunted, camped, healed and kept going.

Wanting to wear the title is fine. Earning it by macro camping is bull.

To those of us that earned it, job well done. To those who got it macroing - shame on ya. To the hologrinders - move along, you have nothing we want to hear.

it's not an exploit. the camp auto-disbands when you enter combat. it's completely legitimate. if SOE didn't want people to macro their way through professions, they shouldn't haven't implemented such a system like this, which is very easy to take advantage of.
