Calc you mentioned in another thread about some feedback you got on the correspondant boards to a ranger idea. I was curious, however, what the general preception of the ranger prof is among the other correspondents. I have seen Waste (Rilfeman Corr) mention that ranger is currently broken, and was wondering what other preceptions of our cherished prof are out there? Not just in it working, but what the typical role of a Ranger is to them. Seeing as the corr.s have the ear of the devs (so i understand) I was curious how they precieved us.
Of particular interest--to me at least--is how they see us in the GCW and PvP.

Ranger isn't truly broken. It's just not quite working as intended. The harvesting bonuses are actually quite good, and Rescue whenyou get up the ranks is an invaluable skill.I'm just starting ranger myself, but I have a friend onone of the other servers who was a ranger and used therescue skill at Master. Pulled 2 or 3 really tough nasties off one of his guildmates.Really, the only thing broken about ranger, andagain, I wouldn't call it broken, is tracking. There are holes in therange mods, which kind of gimps it somewhat, but it still works rather well in any case.

I do not think Ranger is broken, almost everything in our tree works. The trap that cause Dizzy is about the only thing thats broken. Tracking could use alittle work but for the must part it works. I think that our biggest problem is Time! The Ranger is a woodsmans we make things using Hide and bone its only a matter of time before something comes out to replace it thats better. This is starwars, the world of High-tech. From what I have seen we have never been hit straight on with the nerf bat, but some of our skillshave been taken over by droids or chefs ect. With a little luck maybe TH will post the Devs view of what a "Ranger will be in the future"this Friday. And with a little more luck maybe is will be something that We The Rangers will like.

Guys, I agree that we aren't inherently broken, it was just an observation of a corr that i wasciting
I do think that we have run into some problems because of alternatives being introduced in the game. With some luck, we will be helped from a downgrade of buffs and armor and who knows what other fixes (maybe a boost in harvesting?). But, i will not get into our problems and potential fixes in this thread, there are plenty other places for that
And thanks, Calc, for anything you find out!

I feel the need to say something here... but I am not sure what.
Rescue... well, if your friend found it useful I think he may be 1 in 100. The space of time it takes me to go "uh oh," target the guy, hit the rescue macro, then wait for the pause and animation usually means the guy I'm trying to rescue is dead before I finish waving my arms. I used to have a special macro to automatically target each of my Doctors back when they were weak, but they are all TK now drat them. And traps...
How the heck did I end up on this side of the fence? /climbs back over
I don't think Ranger is broken either.

It seems that the Corrs basically feel like we do...we are not broken, we just don't have any bang foir the buck. There is a pretty good discussion going (better than I expected), and I will post some more info later, as the thread develops.

woot.
could you also ask their opinions on rangers being the best player vs creature hunters and perceptions on that?

Yep, I agree with my fellow Rangers.... We are not broken, we are just overwhelmingly "nerfed" in all our branches (Hmmm, excluding "Tracking").
Yet, I love being a Ranger

Well, from past conversations,I don't think any of them would argue with that
