Thread: does NOBODY care about foraging?

Actually this was one of the first reported bugs. The infamous "rare item = full inventory message".

Given that most of our other stuff is borked or broken, and the Devs would actually have to add code to give us rare items, we recognized early on that this was gonna be a low priority for them, not us.

With our luck, we will just be getting bigger onions anyhow.

Hopefully rare items will never be able to be foraged. If they added rare items that are really worth getting, then 9/10 rangers would be macro-foraging while they're at work. Just empty your inventory and forage over and over in one spot, AFK. When you come back your inventory will be full.

I can do it now, and I do it just to get 5-charge fishing bait. Is it worth a dime? Nope. Should I be foraging AFK all day? For something that's not worth jack crap, who cares? But as soon as you add something in there that's worth a good chunk, it'll be a problem.

You can't forage all day in one spot. You will forage the entire area in about 7 tries. Then you have to move 100m and forage again.

Sigh, actually you cant forage 1 spot alll day, and it would be too buggy to make a moving alias to move you to a new spot. So, rare items would be great, and It would likely be difficult without superhigh foraging. So please do not flame our boards.
Nobody would get ranger for the rare items, its still a SP hog and a pain to forage, and i get a rare item bug about every 1/100. So sure you could forage all day and get a "rare item" which would likely just be eye candy for your house. But it is better than foraging being completely useless.

well technically yes, foraging sucks. but what about the rare items you can forage? im anxious to see what kind of items can be foraged with the master ranger ability... seems to me like nobody is interested in foraging, so they'll never fix it.

I wouldn't mind seeing a rare item.. or even a /scavange feature. Giving Rangers the ability to try and take somethnig useful from dead npc's.. muhuhahahahahaha

But yeah, as much as I'd like to have a working forage (because some people set their stupid HAM regens soooooo low, it takes forever in a camp to continue the hunt- so I spend some of the time foraging) I'd rather have working traps, a better harvest system, better to-hit bonuses, better camo, better camps, and respect for my profession.

I wonder if it's possible to forage a monkey in the SE...

You can't forage all day in one spot. You will forage the entire area in about 7 tries. Then you have to move 100m and forage again.

Actually, after you forage the spot out and there's nothing left to forage, it only takes about a minute to repopulate with items. So even in just a few hours you can fill your inventory.

I find foraging very useful for keeping my stable of pets fed. Saves me quite of bit since I don't have to purchase overpriced pet food. I guess I could just ignore the whining little beasts and store them to the dp when they start begging. I feel so guilty when I do that...being a pet owner in rl...just can't put them to bed hungry.
