Thread: The best way to grind ranger and how to find good hide spawns

I am planning to go tkm/ranger on my char on tarq. Im from bria the only way i know is to go to dath and just harvest meat bone hide etc for scouting exp and trapping to just keep throwing trap after trap at durnis and such till, and survival just to leave my guy in a camp afk all day. Now the reason im even bothering to ask is ive always had a hard time with the trapping tree whats the best way to go about grinding the trapping tree in ranger and how would i coem across some good hide spawns.

If you are grinding, you don't really need to be a Ranger.
Grinding is for BHs, artisans, and other people who do a profession to just do it.
Ranger, like a fine wine, should be savored. Besides, grinding = a stupid Ranger. One who knows nothing about anything except how to grind. "Gee Ranger, what creature drops avian on Rori" ... another term for that is dumbazz.

Well, I'm no expert on Hides but I do know a good way to get trapping exp... First what you need to do is make a whole lot of traps (20 or so, more ifyou dont want to stop sometimes tocraft more, also havevarying kindsas well) and get into a solo group on dantooine,get somebuffs,and get Voritor Hunter missions. (Forget the name of the food, but thereis food that boosts your trapping ability, some of that may help) Then go to the spawn and throw differen't traps over and over. For example, Throw a noise maker, then a lepacine dart, then a Wire mesh trap, but never throw 2 of the same kind in a row, you will mosy likely waste your trap. If you use your time wisely, you can get a ton of exp just in 1 set of buffs (assuming you can find someone to train you) Each trap landed sucessfully gives around 900 trapping exp.

In response to how to do the trapping tree quickly this is what i did. I made all of one type of trap as many as i had room to hold, and extras in my house, just the basic ones like the wire mesh trap. Then i found a mob, i did mine on naboo, btw, find a mob that you cannot kill quickly maybe even remove your weapon if you have to, so u have time to throw repeated traps at it. The idea here is to find a balance where you can keep the mob alive and yourself alive and throw every trap in your inventory at it. Seriously it works and you will continue to get experience using the same type trap unless its been changed, but i doubt it has. The higher lvl mob will of course give you more xp every time you throw a trap. You can easily get it done in im thinking 4 hours or less if you can find a good xp mob and you make your traps ahead of time, a lot of traps. Hope this helps.

I managed Trap Master in 2 days by hunting Ghronda Patriarchs 650 xp per animal. and there not hard to find at all. (had my rancor tank for me.)

first. JB get over yourself to each there own. Last i check you were not Master of all Rangers. At least he wants more than tracking.
I am still working it with the trapping also. Im not grinding just going at it a little here and there. I also use trapping droid. (Prob Cheating to JB) i can throw a trap wait till the effect wears a bit throw again. same trap. same Xp. good luck. Heck i may grind the camping. not afk but ill find a good SW novel whilst i doit. egg timer and good book i hear makes it go fast.

Well, right now I'm 4/x/4/3 ranger (and master rifleman), but started out this morning as 3/x/x/x. Right now on Shadowfire, there's a really good spawn of carn meat on Dath. So I got decent doc buffs, some high kinetic ubese, a bunch of brandy and ahrisa (rifle's a harsh mistress), and got in a solo group (had to go to dant for that), and pulled enranged rancor missions out of the trade outpost. As far as scouting xp goes, we're talking 190+ units of carn per creature (as high as 260 with tracking 4, btw), so you just fly through those boxes. For trapping, I occasionally threw in a bolma mission, and threw 5 different traps at each one as I was killing it. I can't remember the amount of xp this gave, but I had adv trapping 1 in one outing, though I trapped a few random spawns I found too. After that, I started trapping (5 times) the last rancor in each of the three spawns out of the mission lairs. Each trap on those yielded nearly 1600 trapping xp, so assuming that they all worked (spotty until trapping 2), that was 8000xp per rancor.
I didn't harvest hide from the rancors, but I assume that the amounts would be similar to the meat harvest from each.

mmm ... the trapping tree is not dificult at all if u state that traps are not wasting time.
Ok, the best traps in my opinion are scout traps ... thoose adesive are impressive and very useful
I did that tree without problems ... and now at master level I have an extra 80k trapping exp as I go on using traps ...

The trapping tree actually goes extremely fast once you realize how useful they can be. That way, your having fun trapping creatures, you feel like you have aunique and importantrole in the group, and then, without realizing it, you're a trap master. (If you're a true Ranger you'll be pissed that there isn't more traps, lol.)
Seriously, instead of figuring out the shortest way to get through a profession, figure out the way to have to most fun with it. You may not master it as quickly, but it will seem a helluva lot faster and you'll have a blast doing it.
That old aphorism "time flies when your having fun" really is true.

i got through the ranger tree fairly quickly by going to dathomir buffed and throwing traps at rancors id through 1 of each at a rancor kill him then move ontpo the next when my ham was low i would camp to get it back then repeat. when my buff wore out i would go get buffed and return the problem with trappin rancors is they disease you but if your high up ebough in meditation you can meditate and cure youre own wounds. Also voritoe hunters work great too

sorry i meant camp when your wounds got high thus lowering your ham meditation does wonders for a ranger but dont do ranger just to do ranger. ranger is a lifestyle master it and keep it

The guys are giving you great advise. I have headed for Ranger since this game was in Beta, once live went after it still and once there have never given it up. Trapping is not that difficult, but for best results as indicated you want to use as many traps on the highest difficulty animals if you want trapping to go up fast. Then truly enjoy the added benefit as you grow and maintain your Ranger Character.
