Thread: The game's stupidest form of exp

Well, it's official, there is nothing more stupid then frontiering exp. As i'm grinding my last box (go go go 60k!), i'm going nuts.

See, this is the only exp that you gain by doing NOTHING.

To get weapon exp, you must fight. Same for combat exp. To get medic exp, heal people. For crafting exp, craft and have people use your stuff. For Squad leader exp, lead a group in combat. For trap exp, throw traps. For scout exp, harvest.

For Frontiering exp, you must do nothing!!! This is long and boring. You set a camp, and wait. How crude. I know, i know, it helps to have people in the camp, and people getting healed. But even with 5 person in your camp, you , as a player, are doing nothing. You are not exploring. You are not fighting (or it breaks your camp).

Wanna get master Ranger? Prepare to do... uh... nothing.

Crafting traps and camps don't give much. Thanks god i can at least have my pet attack, this way i can clear small lairs while i do.... nothing.

Sorry, i needed to rant.

You could get your survival XP from fishing though, which gives you fish meat, which could be sold to doctors, which makes you money. Or the best of both worlds and find a spot where you can fish from a camp.

you can also grindcraft camp kits which can get you about 10,000exp in an hour maybe better than that even. if you want to point out how stupid something is, why not think first about what the options are. how else are they going to get you up the camping ladder? You aren't doing nothing, you are offering a service to those in the wild. a spot to call a pet or vehicle, a spot to heal and use woundpacks, a spot for entertainers to perform, and even crafting stations in the more advanced stages. yes, you may be doing it solo and doing nothing, but the game mechanics mean for camps to be more than that and they are.

Small, very minor correction. Fish is used by bioengineers, not doctors

Well, i am not a grinder. I gain exp for what i do. I gain all my ranger tree by beeing a ranger. Except camp. To answer you all:

1- You can't fish from a camp. Camp is too close to water, or water too far to fish. I tried.

2- Gringind the exp in crafting is nice. I'm not a crafter, i'm a ranger. I know it's doable, you said 10k an hour, which is about the same rate as having a camp up with 2 people in it for an hour. It's not faster.

3- To the one that said i'm not doing nothing, i'm offering a service.... I was in a hunting group today, 6 off us. So great camping opportunity, right? Wrong, i get camp up, people get vehicules out, heal up, takes 1 minute MAX, and i get zero exp. I had to actually ask people to wait a bit, so i could get exp. I kept getting the what are we waiting for question. I had to say nothing. We must do a bit of nothing so i get exp please.

I'm just saying that i wish simpling getting a base camp out to get pets out would give exp under 2 minutes. I wish foraging would give exp. Hell, i wish that line could just be leveled with scout exp...

Take CH. They just get CH exp. Imagine the taming line would only be leveled with taming exp...

If it was easy, everyone would be a Ranger.

Your friends need to be told straight out you need XP and that's why you are deploying camps. They want to take right off, no problem - find a new group. 6 people in a camp not being "lump on a log" types will max your camp in maybe 10 minutes. Is that too much to ask?

Or, tell em you will be deploying camps only after every third mission or so. They will slow down then to heal. Let one of them deploy a basic camp to call bikes, you lose nothing.

I really would find new hunting partners. Mine always helped me out, as I was helping them out. Go along and get along.

Grinders complain about camping

I'm a 3-4-3-4 Ranger and got there by ~using~ camps. Especially early in my career I used them when I was healing.I'd pass others in the wild just sitting on a rock somewhere while they healed- I'd be throwing up camps after each mission. Even now that I capped the camping xp I find myself still needing to call pets/vehicles. Best to fly out to a lair with a hunting party, stop a few 100 meters before reaching it, throw down a camp, get pets, buff and then fight!!!

My big complant is the Traps. The Pen. Dart kicks butt but none of the Ranger level ones - which you'd think would be the most powerful -are as good. We need another Ranger trap (4) which works like a super Pen Dart. sweeeeeetttt

will max your camp in maybe 10 minutes.

This is exaclty my complain. We get more exp by simply waiting.

Guess i'm a little burned right now, i camped too much. I wish we,d get exp by actively do something. I'll try fishing.

I am now on box #3 in the frontiering tree, amd I have made three camps since I started Ranger. All I have done is fish for a bit whenever I'm sick of hunting. I have sold the fish I made for about 100k. So if you are not Holo-speed-grinding you can make a couple of 100,000 creds instead of burning God knows how mush resourses on camp grinding.

That's what I did anyway.
You do as you please.

It's "Survival Experience".

To live in the wild is to Survive. To live out their longer than others gives you Experience in Survival.

You're not doing nothing. You're Surviving in the wilds, albeit just by sitting in a camp, supposedlydefending people. It may not repell aggressive creatures, but you are managing to survive in the wilds in a home that is not going to remain out there.

That is what you do. You are a Ranger. You live in the wilds. That means, you are capable of Surviving. Doing so long enough will give you your experience.

I took a bunch of bone, a bunch of hide, and a bunch of metal, and sat in the coronet cantina for two hours making high end camps on practice mode. That's how I got fronteiring 4.
