Thread: Concern about the Rifleman/Ranger/CH template, Post-CU

Anyone else think maybe Rangers should get a CL use bonus?
No.
I think Rangers and CH should be two seperated and professions each worthy, viable, and distinct in their own right.

What are people going to do post CU?
- Learn
- Adapt
- Make choices
Visiting Kashyyyk a lot, I hope.

What are people going to do post CU? It seems natural for a true huntsman like a Rifleman/Ranger to be able to ride/use more advanced creatures than your average template. Anyone else think maybe Rangers should get a CL use bonus? Like it wouldn't aid in taming but would let Rangers ride larger mounts and keep more powerful animals as pets?
If the current skill point requirements for all involved professions wouldn't change, then you could go Master Ranger, Master Creature Handler and 4004 Marksman. Then, if the skill point cost of ranger and/or CH are lowered (to compensate for combat pre-requisits), then your 4004 marksman would put you in place for getting Novice Rifleman (which is nice just for the T21 cert, providing they don't change that in the combat revamp either). A lot of if's and but's just now.
Given the stated pre-requisits of CH and Rifleman, the system is more slanted towards you having CH than rifleman since ranger and CH are both rooted in scout and that the marksman requirement for rifleman is purposed to be doubled.
I really hope they change their minds about combat pre-requisits, because it's a bad move, especially if they dont' lower skill point costs. I think they've done this to stop people becoming a tripple elite combat master. However, given the stated new pre-requisits and current skill point costs, it is still possible to be a tripple elite combat master, despite the new pre-requisits, yet it's causing a big skill point sink for those that are only half combat (like rangers and doctors). So from that point of view, the devs were bad marksman, they missed their target ![]()

Well one thing for sure Being a Master Ranger/Master Rifleman will be a LOT more challanging post-CU. What with us having to spend 14 more skill points then we currently do to keep it.

My 18 points are currently in Novice Medic and 3 FS boxes. Seeing as we get new stims that don't need medic, I will end up with one skill point more IF the Skill Points don't change (so one more FS box for me). We are also getting a boost to our base health, so I'm not sure things will be that different. Those Ranged Support specials are also pretty useful, I used Suppression Fire a lot before dropping Ranged Support originally. Of course this is if the skills in the trees stay as they, which we don't know either way
The only thing that concerns me is hunting will be slower, but again we'll have to wait an see...

Rangers kill critters, CHs tame them.
Antithetical professions mainly.
Hehe, I think you mean SCOUTS kill critters. Rangers *should* have more use then just critter demolishers.
Hence Ranger/CH are not contradictionary professions. Why else can a Ranger track a BABY creature for a CH to tame? ![]()

I'd think 'for weeks and weeks' will be more like it.
Oh, and DaveG... nice one! (Marksman, joke, funny, yes)
