As do I. So much that when I get my holocrons, I will drop all other skills. Can not give up ranger!

I'm going for Ranger. Seems like a great profession by what I see from these forums.

Well... The profession needs a little work, but the forum is great.

Now, I am a Master Ranger and I am just curious about something. What exactly do you all loooooooooove so much? What do we have that you cannot live without? I really like the idea of ranger, but execution is just not there at this point. Ranger could be dropped for me right now and I would not even really notice (except that maybe I would harvest a little bit less than before, but even that is not asmuch of a benefit as it should be for us). Just curious...

I agree with the above post. We are not that great. I could drop Ranger and I literally would not notice. Its kind of sad when you have a professions like that. We need the devs help really bad, but they are too busy with player cities and mounts to fix the things that are already in the game. Besides, all you Rangers going around acting like we are some great class aren't making our class any more of a priority for the developers. We are still little more than slightly advanced scouts, and I mean SLIGHTLY advanced not anything like super scouts. Personally the whole idea of being just an advanced scout makes me sick! Devs, if you are listening: Make us different than scouts! Give us unique abilities other than tracking and the weak(IMO) camoulage technique!! Putting a new name on mask scent doesn't make it any better or different for that matter. Just my two cents.

my major loves are areatrack and conceal. I can run from one end of dantooine to the other using conceal packs without being detected. I can find animals in a certain radius as well, makes it much easier to find what you are looking for. I can harvest a buttload and the traps are great if you use em right. Sonic pulse is awesome for combat. Keep throwing it at the target

Ok, I can tell you what makes ranger so awsome, I'm a bh picking up ranger (bh 2/3/4/4 nov. ranger) Of all the cool tracking skills I get i.e send droids out to look for marks. Now your tracking you can not only find animals nps and pcs you can tell what direction there in, that is awsome af far as I am concerned.

I am another master ranger here not understanding why everyone seems to LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE this profession. I understand that the areatrack skill may prove complementary to the BH's skills. Apart from that... being a ranger is worthless right now. I cannot tell the difference with being a master scout, except that I can make huge camps and different looking traps and also I can harvest slightly more. How exciting!!! Yeah I LOOOOOOOOOOVE it!

1. Traps are useless. Their effects on creatures have yet to be proven to me. A dizzy creature seems to be running to maul me as if it had an extra 4 legs. To me, the only traps that make a difference in combatare phecnanine traps and mesh traps, because they slow them down. Wait.. oh yeah you get phecnanines as a scout. Until traps can be used on people and not only creatures, I do not see any use for them.

2. Camps are just luxury items to provoke "wows" from our peers. When I run group hunts, someone will occasionally use the crafting station of one of my "uber" camps. Other than that, multiple-person camps would be enough. When I'm running alone or with other people, the very basic first small camp is more than enough for one to call their pet. No much use for the bigger camps... Oh yeah, you say they repel aggressive creatures? No later than today, three nightspiders (not exactly the most aggressive and dangerous red con in the game) came right into my camp to take a close look at myself. I guess if camps do not repel those little spiders, chances are they will not repel a rancor.

3. The absence of any dedicated weapon skills and certifications. If I want to use some kind of higher-end weapons, I may try to reach novice BH. I won't have much skill points to spend on other skills though. Given that I want to be able to heal myself so that I remain an "independent" profession in the field, I am stuck with FWG5's and Scout blasters. I have tried to level up into the pistoleer tree, but needless to say, every time I try to play PvP, I get mauled in no time. Consequently, I chose to level in the novice CH skilltree too to get some physical assistance... but I won't be able to learn too many skills there either. No skill points left. Thus I'm running around shooting gnorts and level 15 faction missions with my scout blaster and my peko peko.

Rangers need a special weapon! I read somewhere about a ranger bow... That is a great idea! Provided that we are granted special skills and attacks for it.

4. The areatrack skill is nothing more than a tool that lets you know what is around you. I could see some great use in it if it allowed you to track a SPECIFIC creature within a certain radius, let's say 2500m for example. That would make rangers much more appealing to group hunts looking for a Krayt dragon for example. Given that ranger is an elite profession and that we have to spend so much time and so many skill points for it, I think that improving the areatrack skill would not be a luxury.

5. Conceal is a nice idea. However, I am already pretty safe using the simple maskscent. Of course, it breaks many times while running around bunches of red cons on remote planets, but the same creatures will rarely attack me upon breach of my maskscent. That supposes that you do not run in the middle of their lair of course.

6. Concerning the movements bonuses.. well I personally do not see any significantdifference with other professions. Yes, I run SLIGHTLY faster, but that is barely noticeable.

Conclusion: I do not know what other Master Rangers will say, but to me Master Ranger is a LOUSY profession! There is no perks for us to make it worth mastering it! You will all be fine with master scout! Don't waste your time/points getting ranger!

The worst part is now that I have spent so much time on it... I do not feel like surrendering any of my skills. It just took me countless hours of dumb camping to get survival xp, and also hours of creature harvesting to get all the scout xp. I feel sad though because now that I have completed my character's profession, I feel like I have finished the game. I do not know what to do to enjoy myself, and I am disappointed that being a master ranger is not more rewarding.

Peace and enjoy yourselves everyone,

Markolo, Master Ranger on Sunrunner.
