Creature to hit bonus, is defined as a bonus used in "ranged" attacks. Does this mean melee or ranged weapons? Also, does anyone know the % of its effectiveness vs unarmed accuracy?

Only helps ranged i.e. pistol, rifle. etc. not unarmed

I have heard the creature to hit bonus only applies to Ranged weapons. This is both at the Scout and Ranger level. Is this true? It seems a little unfair to the brawler line to take a skill from a pretty much independent/general class and make brawlers not apply to it at all?

Also, does the creature to hitbonus only affect chance to hit or damage dealt also? Perhaps the bioscience line should actually give something as follows:

Damage vs Creatures +10
Creature to Hit Bonus +10

Or something...just thinking out loud while the servers are down..

Agreed, it doesn't even make sense either. The entire reasoning behind a "creature to hit" bonus is that the Ranger has become more aware of the creatures actions / vulnerabilities. This knowledge is applied to knowing where to hit them. Why is knowing where to hit a creature restricted to a ranged attack?

I could use a little clarification about the "to hit bonus"

It says it only applies to "regular ranged attacks" - Which gives me the impression that by using a mindshot, healthshot, whatever, will negate this bonus?

One thing that I'm sure most people aren't aware of or at least don't mention very much, is that the "to-hit" bonus ONLY applies to "Normal Ranged Attacks", just hold the cursor over it in the skill mod box and read what it says. Meaning it doesn't benefit any specials used. I agree it should work for melee fighters, though.

the to hit bonus being ranged only was in the last correspondent report. The damage bonus and a suggestion for a defensive bonus vs creatures are going in on the next report, along with an ability that may perhaps transfer some or all of these bonuses to group members to enhance group value of rangers.

"an ability that may perhaps transfer some or all of these bonuses to group members to enhance group value of rangers."

Thats a good idea. From what Ive seen, the devs are much more likely to adjust numbers than code new abilitys. I would be just as happy if they made the bonus to melee and boosted the "to hit" bonus by at least ten percent or so, that way rangers will stand out more in a group in the wilderness, like we should.

Ya , I mean I wouldn't worry about it too much because that skill mod is USELESS to us ranged attackers as well ! It only applies to standard attacks , and who the hell uses those ?

I'm not going to chew through all three ham bars to kill something . I kill it in one third the time with pool specific special attacks that hit harder than10 standard attacks lumped together . Plus , like I stated they are pool specific .

So , another useless trinket in the Rangers bag of tricks , along with ALL of the traps except the slow trap and forage as well .

Needs fixing .

Seems like I end every single post in this forum with " needs fixing " or " needs work " . How sad . The only solace is our kick ass correspondent and the fact that there is utterly NOWHERE else to go but up .

Good hunting all
