In hindsight I shoulda combined this thread with my original, but, *shrug*

So, i've decided to go for Master Ranger. I have a +25 camo/maskscent outfit. In what cases is Camo>Maskscent, or vice versa?

All indications are that against creatures, maskscent and camo are equally effective. I personally have never noticed that one breaks any more often than the other, though camo will last much longer before naturally wearing off.

When a creature tries to detect you and fails, maskscent gives you 3x the creatures level in Scouting XP, in the same situation camo gives you 2x the creatures level in Scouting XP. Watching the number of XP given is therefore a simple way of determining the amount of danger you were almost in.

Camo works against NPC's, maskscent does not. When used against NPC, in my experience, camo breaks more often against higher level NPC just as maskscent does against higher level creatures. However, I have (sometimes) used camo successfully against both Nightsisters and Tusken Observers. Not the sort of this thing I would want to betmy last credit on being able to do, but it is clear that no NPC "auto breaks" camo. I have read, but not verified, that camo works best against factionally opposed NPC's.

Neither works against Krettles which is why I have long suspected that Krettles are actually CSR's and that's why they have such power against maskscent and camo.

I never hunt on dath with mask scent. You never know when you'll end up next to a nightsister of singing mountain clan member! I go through dath camo kits like a kid through candy.

Does maskscent attract them or something?

Well, maybe I was wrong, but I thought they were pretty much the same? Is it that you can't have both on at the same time, cause I've tried to go camo while scent was masked. If they are different, what is the difference? I don't have any problems w/ NS (+5k faction) so I haven't really used masked scent around any npc's....never thought that npc's didn't need to smell you, only see you lol..

Thanks,

Pleased to meet you, hope you guessed my name, but what's puzzling you is just the nature of my game Silent Guardian of the Nightsisters Just as every Imperial is a criminal, and all the Rebels saints..as heads is tails..just call me Protector 'cause I'm in need of some restraint.

Okay so, can anyone confirm/deny if camo kits work on NS's? Those are about the Only NPCs I have to worry about aggroing me.

Depends what level they are and your conceal skill. I would say, yes, but not all the time. Dont epxect to run past an Elder without being seen, but you might be able to sneak past a slave or perhaps even a low level NS.

Creatures = Maskscent. It's free after all.

Non-Rangers - Camo.

Here is what is totally odd. I have camo'd guildies, and then myself. Rumor says they work off my skills. Why does mine break when I am in back of the guildies approaching the objective lair?

Rasps can also break maskscent at 63.99 meters.

Go with mask scent. It costs you no resources, and a handy dandy macro will keep you masked all day long.

Addition;

/maskscent;
/pause 540;
/echo masked scent will wear off in 1 minute.;
/pause 30;
/echo masked scent will wear off in 30 seconds.;
/pause 20;
/echo masked scent will wear off in 10 seconds.;
/pause 10;
/macro maskscent

Has anyone tried using camo then going in a dungeon? Does being inside something break the camo? For example, you throw on some endor camo and walk into the DWB, is there any chance you can get past some of the guards?

Im going to say yes, both camo and masked scent work in "dungeons". Though it should be noted that the higher the level creature, the more likely your concealment is to break. I happily ran past Enhanced Kwi's last night in the Geo caves with my masked scent activated. I didnt have the camo kits for Yavin with me, but I would imagine that you could conceal your entire group, and make it past most of the lower level creatures in there. Of course the higher levels will still attack, which is why I severly doubt you can camo your way into the DWB.

Camo does not work in the DWB.

Camo does not work on the Corellian Corvette.

Camo does not work on most if not all higher level NPCs.

Camo does not work if you hold your tongue wrong, wiggle your ears, or have a name with vowels in it. It will never work on St. Swithin's day either. Or Arbor Day.

You can't camo and maskscent at the same time. One or the other. I usually pick the other.

Camo does seem to work on lower level NPCs, to include NS slaves, Imps and Rebels (especially officers, they are so dense :smileyvery-happy, Meatlumps and the like, and rumor says Fred wandered the Squill Cave in a set of Hawties while camo'd.

(Where is Fred anyhow? May have died of shame.)

Anyhow, realize that camo is great if you need to do something in a city and see people about to go wandering about. Offer to camo them and you get the xp. Great on the mean planets. Just hang out in the starport and camo people for free xp. (You heard it hear first)
