I've played since launch and was 1 of the first 10 master rangers on the Ahazi server. I stuck with my favorite profession throuh thick-and-thin for over a year and a half. a couple months before the CU, I changed my template dropping ranger because it was just so frustrating playing for so long with such a neglected profession. Could wepress the devs to allow a /respec that will only grant Scout/Ranger skills after they finally update the profession? They could look at doing the same for smuggler, ranger, and squad leader since there will most likely be many people still playing that dropped those professions for something more useful, and it would be a shame to miss the oppurtunity to reprize our old favorite professions if they do become viable again without regrinding the whole thing. (maybe the /respec trigger could be something like the master profession badges?)

Just an idea from a long-lost ranger.

While I have no say in the matter, I must say that I love that idea! I don't think it would work well for the common peeps, but maybe if you have the Master Ranger badge, you could be given the option to respec? (of course implementing this for the Smugglers and Squad Leaders would be essential, as well)

I think the idea is great as well...

sad thing is, that there are a lot of hologrinder rangers with the tag.. (although i doubt they would actually take it upon themselves to respec)

now that ive disproven my own post, great idea

I would like to think that the profession will change alot after its revamp. In the sense of testing and enjoying your profession I would think I would want to level through it normally myself.

New home of SWG Rangers!

Interesting idea, but as long as they fix the issue with Trapping xp, I don't see the big deal with having to work your way up to Master Ranger just like we all did our first time.

This is a hard discussion pointand there are basically4 arguments.

1: Those past rangers who have decided to drop ranger because it is not viable to play should get to respec back to ranger once ranger is fixed.

2: Those rangers who have dropped ranger have dropped it and should have to re-level itif they want the skills back, they didnt HAVE to drop it after all.

3: Anyone should be able to pick up ranger because of the fixes we have recieved over the mini-revamps.

Personally i dont think that a respec is needed/justified. Many people dropped DE before it got a revamp and didnt get the option, same with chef and with BE. Now we have the respec code in place then maybe but i dont think there is a big enough argument there to justify changing to code and getting everyone who dropped ranger there skills back.

Dont get me wrong it sucks that to so many people ranger isnt viable anymore, i understand your point and if there is enough support i will push for this idea for you, but my personal take on it is that if you dont have ranger, you should be able to be ranger again just because issues have been fixed and the profession has been made worthwhile.

Like Calc said, if you have the master ranger badge then it sounds a good idea. I dont the idea of some nutsack picking up master ranger without ever actually playing through scout just because there is a respec in place.

Just remember, if it is allowed for one profession, it should be allowed for others.

Owen, if you push for this idea, then I think you should inform the Smuggler and Squad Leader Correspondents as well.

I totally agree, thus the reason I added the comment to my post about making the master badge the trigger to allow the respec. I know grinding ranger isn't as hard now as it was when I first did, but it'll be quite time consuming considering the combat changes.

That's what I was thinking.. even if a respec was offered, it'd be more fun to progress up the "new" ranger profession.

sound good, but how about those who get the Master Ranger in the earlier days, before the badge system came?

They bailed out too soon, and don't deserve it .

Yeah, I am kidding...but, I guess they would be SOL.
