I feel it is better to give you guys updates as I get the info, rather tahn have y'all wonder/worry. I still have not done a large sample set, but I did work on alair or two before they brought TC down (Is this a conspiracy? ). So here are some more notes, but this is not final (they already fixed the harvesting I mentioned before). BTW, I have not had a chance to read the other notes thread as I only have a few short minutes to ge this out before I have to run...

Traps - They seem to hit fairly often (4 out of 5 on P darts). The max range seems to be 55m.The droid can throw them withOUT stopping your own combat. Also, if you are not in combat and the throws a trap the critter seems to aggro the droid, not yourself.

Harvesting - OK this is still very sketchy, BUT they evened out the harvesting to be more in line with your skill level (both the droid and I harvested near the same amount). The current theory is that the droid is based on you mod similar to a 110 med droid (BUT THIS IS NOT PROVEN), but it does the harvesting. Do you get an increase if you havest while in the vicinty of the droid? I don't know. Can you stack harvesting mods? I don't know. I do know you can indeed use the droid to harvest while you are in combat. I have not had a chance to test grouping effects yet, either.

I am getting together with Delta in the very near to future to conduct some further tests.

I think he means you can stop combat and the droid will still throw the trap.

I'm reading this as "without stoping combat"

Thank you Calc

Thanks for the update Calc. What level creatures do the darts hit 4 times out of 5? If we are talking about creatures from high level planets then perhaps I should get myself a metal casing. Does the trapping skill of the droids owner influence this or only the number of trapping modules in it?

My concern with the harvesting modand maybe you can test this out if you are so inclide, is the harvesting rate with the droid and without. You can get X number of resources per hour while hunting. Droids are a pain to use. They won't keep up, even on foot. So you need to pull the droid out at each layer, group with it and then direct it to harvest. I am assuming all of this because I haven't used one, so correct me if I am wrong.

Now ungrouped you get a full 100%. Grouped you get 65% and the droid gets 65%, or 130%. Is that extra 30% worth all the extra effort? Could all that 'droid time' be better spent on killing more animals and hence getting more resources? Basically the droid slows you down, but does it does it pay it's own keep?

Also what about larger groups of people. 3 people would harvest 195%. 3 people with 3 droids harvests 390%. Does the time it takes for everyone to pull them out, group them, and then harvest with them worth the time then? Does everyone need to have the droid, or if only 2 out of 3 or 1 out of the 3 have the droids, are they still worthwhile?

My concern is what impact, if any, do these modules have on the rate of harvest per hour for hunters. I think knowing this would go a long way to see if they are even worth it or not. I would hate for more interesting yet useless droids to be put into the game.

A couple of quick notes on harvesting:

You can not harvest yourself and with a droid off the same creature. It is one or the other.

Also, you set up a verbal command for harvesting and can macro it. it is a piece of cake. The pain comes from when you want to harvest multiple resources as you have to manually switch the droid. While we can use the /harvest meat command, the droid needs to be set to meat (once, not each time) and then to ld to harvest.

A couple more questions (or maybe other things to test):

  • Can you control in any way the movement of the droid? If the droid can get Aggro'd maybe it can be used as a lure.

  • If we /maskscent or /conceal and we have the droids out, are they masked and concealed too?

  • Will they break our /maskscent or /conceal if a creature attacks them?

  • When you are incap, is the harvester droid left out there to be destroyed? Can it be Aggro'd?

  • Can you have both harvester droid and trap droid out at the same time, orare they just modules of the same droid?

Probably have a lot more questions but this is enough for now.

Btw, they broke regular trap-throwing. I was not getting any traps to go off last nite. Not a succeed or fail, did not work at all (click on throw or push the hot key and combat DID NOT start). It would seem that they made them droid-use only now .

Come to think of it, I never threw a trap on live... for... 3 months?
