Thread: Scout/Ranger related changes in publish 8

Putting this up now, will edit with info as I read it so it doesn't get posted 20 times (should be it now).



  • Added Scout Trap Module to the DE skill tree: This module will allow any player with the novice scout ability to program and arm a droid with player made scout traps which will then fire when given the command by the player.
  • Added Creature Harvester Module to the DE skill tree: This module will allow any character to program and control an equipped droid to advance on the look-at target of the player and harvest the resources on the creature. The player can preset the droid to harvest one of the three types: meat, hide or bone. Or the player can just let the droid pick a random resource type.


  • Fixed a problem where traps could not be thrown indoors


    • possibly:


  • Changed some profession titles to remove redundant or inconsistent names

  • Added an Interplanetary Survey Droid - This droid is capable of using survey tools and traveling to other planets to report on the resources present on that planet

    • And I think that is it.

    Notice very specifically on the Creature Harvester Module: "This module will allow any character"


    Another point on this. The DE and Marksman correspondents have both stated quite firmly that it is Novice Scout only. It is a typo but enough to give me a scare.

    The DE correspondent indicated that it was Scout only in another thread. But this definately needs to be checked. Typos are not impossible.

    Actually, you have to have novice scout to use the harvester.

    Phew! Just about had a heart attack on that one. I'll keep my fingers crossed that all this does is get the resources you'd normally get at your level, rather than increasing it or something goofy. I know it's often a pain to collect the resources while in combat, before all the carcasses go poof.

    didnt want to jump the gun on that one....

    so, the droid harvests it, and not us....I feel sooo useful right now, my only question is that does it use our harvesting mod or a programmed harvesting mod?

    That I don't know. I don't know if its an extra harvest or just in place of your regular harvest. I don't know if it uses your mod or a programmed mod (if it replaces your harvest it should use your mod in my opinion.) So someone is going to have to test this out to see how it really works.

    I obviously have a lot of questions right now, but I think that those questions will inevitably be answered.

    However, I kinda like the trapping-bot...makes me think of R2-D2 ejecting Luke's lightsaber in RoTJ

    kinda cool...but not exactly what I imagined

    Im kind of hoping that the survey droid will include all organic and inorganic information.

    Im looking at the DE page right now, to check whats up with the new additions.

    me too but the fact that u need to equip a surveying tool doesnt bode well
