Thread: Ideas for Ranger

I had a few... here they are.

Nightvision, (variation idea of binoculars), only no item needed, the personal light (Ctrl+L) will light everything green in 50 meters or so.

Additional loot and resources- things that scout and others can not get. Selling loot could be more of an income for Rangers, perhaps a special collection of loot could be complied into one item, either weapon, armor, or other. For example- You loot several otherwise useless items, but with just a generic crafting tool, have options to create several unique items from the same looted things. Im not sure how much this would fit ranger, but if the items could be wilderness related, like a blowdart gun...

Although not to take competition from chef, perhaps Ranger can cook his own food. I would like to use up the stuff i forage, and the fish i catch (the fish, not the meat).

Hmmm. It'd be nice to see Ranger specific buffs, creatable only in a ranger camp, maybe using the ranger fire stuff, and using what a ranger can forage. And it's also true that the forage system needs to differ more than "more". Different types, more than one type at once...something.

Night vision is cool. Dunno how practical it would be in use though.

Its basically a special type of camouflagesuit kinda worn by snipers and such like that can be tailored to the environment to enable you to blend in. Do a search on google for images and you will see what it is.

Cpoied this from my reply on camps , be kinda nice to get some ideas in the same thread. This in particular would aid in promoting the usefu ness of camps.

One or 2 ideas i had was how about an ability to be able to capture live animals whereby at certain levels of ranger skill you could capture and hold a live animal but then you are required to produce a camp in order to cage or secure it , then maybe it would transfer to your inventory or datapad. You wouldnt have any control over the animal but you could perhaps sell it to a bio or a ch. Just imagine what a scope it would put on your abilities if you could have a Non CH Bio come upm to you and say 'could you capture me a sludge panther' for dna sampling' and after all the idea in most mmporgs of rangers usually involves some sort of animals.

I alsothought what would be nice is a campfire cooking skill that u need a camp for. Idea would be to maybe cook some foraged or harvested meat items u find to combine them into a temp stat/resist buffing meal .You could limit this for the consumption of the ranger and /or whoever is in the camp and most of all the ranger would be finding and cookingtheir ownmeal. After all theywouldnt normally pop in from the wilderness to go to the nearest restaurant now would they.

I know both of these ideas step slightly on the toes of ch and chef but way i see it all professons can do that to each other to a certain extent.

I personally feel there should be less reliance on docs to increase your stats although i do think they should remain the primary buffers. Most other mmporgs have more than one class that can effectively buff.

I think these would be just the boost rangers would need. Id be grateful for comments whether good or bad. IM enjoying playing ranger but it just that little bit extra.

Good ideas, I especially like the nightvision idea as my monitor is getting old.

I'd like to be able to take trophies. It'd probably take a lot of graphics works by the devs, but I'd like to be able to take the head of a beast I kill and either deflesh it and polish the skull, or use a taxidermy skill to create a classic trophy. I'd love to be able to hang these on the walls of my lodge. We could also act as guides for hunts and as part of the service to our clients, craft the trophies for them. Not every beast would drop an acceptable head though, this could be a loot drop.

Well their really as far as I know isnt much to add to what people want tthe ranger profession to have. I myself am hoping for these preticular ones.

  • Trap launcher{I want one I want one I want one!!!}

  • The ability to forage usefull foods that may decreasr or stop poisen,desease,or bleeds.

  • The ability to forage eatables that you can eat more then one of I would say maby 6 depending on how good they are.

  • The ability for MAster ranger to be taken off the radar is he lies down and dosent move while useing a conceal like skill.

  • Gillie suits to replace camo kits and act as special clothing only a ranger can wear.

  • Mission terminals in High Tech field bases

  • Allow the owner of a base to stray 2k away from the base without it disbanding allowing a ranger to set down a base grab a missions set complete it then head back to the base to heal and grab another mission set.{when the ranger reaches 2000 meters from the camp it then disbands}

Those are the7 im really looking forward to if they ever get implemented.

1.Being able to use traps in pvp would be awesome too. Or even on Stormtroopers for that matter.

2. Foraging great resources for meds that only Rangers can use.

(If we're out in the wild, you'd think we'd learn how to poisons and diseases)

3.Camps with defensive capabilities.

4. Gillie suits that give extra ranged defense or something of that nature.

5. Being able to dissapear off radar at Master.

Those would be pretty cool.

I like the idea of the mission term in field base and the ability to operate from the base w/o disband!
I also like to see an increase in damage to creatures. I know there is some but I think it needs to be much larger. It seems a Commando had a better change of killing a critter than a Ranger.
The two will allow a Ranger to set-up a great hunting camp (either for himself of a hunting party) run mission from it and talk down the prey as an outdoorsman/woman should.
We need to be efficient hunting machines.

You know the story of the Ghillie suit? It's a galic word. WWI the Germans were WAY outclassing in snipers and England brought in Highlander hunters (yes boys an girls, hunters) to develop a sniper program for the allies. There is a lesson there

Ranger is not a profession. It's a lifestyle.
