A little while ago, there was a post(s) about how there seemed to be an increase in the Ranger population. I had mentioned that it was cyclical and that there would be a Ranger die-off. Well, the die-off is happening as we speak
.
I wish all you departing Ranger the best of luck, and hapy hunting to you!

Maybe all these departing rangersenjoy hunting and harvesting, and would like to put their skillpoints into a template which will allow them to dothat really well.

I would say bye to Agon and Squid and the others in personal posts, but I am far too lazy for that.
I hope to see y'all again soon. If not, good luck in real life, may things work out for the best.

"What was once great will crumble to dust, and from the ruins of the past a new, stronger city will rise".
Seeing the recent rash of Dear John's in the Ranger Forum was prettydepressing, but not entirely unexpected. Yeah, Calc, it's a cycle, but sometimes things happen that precipitate a rush of fall offs after a period of relative calm. (Or maybe it's just that SOME rangers can lie in the corner and die off quietly but Forum Rangers do it in groups? Hmm...)
A lot of folk I chat to in-game have held off on their departure to pastures new because 'something new' was always 'just around the corner'. The jedi, the FS element, wookie armour... uhm... yeah. Anyhow, pretty much every month for the last few months there's been something to hang your hopes on. But the FS quests seems to have nailed the lid on the coffin for a good few regulars.
After months of grinding towards holo-professions, then the hiatus while the jim-jam jedi settled in, they finally saw the horrendous numbers involved in getting to Weilder of the GlowStick. Surely it couldnt be THAT bad? Maybe in practice it'd be more fun than it looks?
So the FS quests duly arrived in the pockets of the Old Man. We bish bash boshed Sith thugs, trundled up to Dath and visited the village... and then saw we were right at the a**e-end of another immense grind. There was a disturbance in the Force, as if across galaxies thousands of voices went "What the **ck??" and then the escape pods started going off...
Some of us are perverse enough, or just plain stubborn if you like, and are gonna stick it out till after JtL. Heck, I play Ranger, it's not as though things can get any worse
I've a couple of very definitely never going to be FS let alone jedi toons and I pop about between them these days building them into workable support professions that I ENJOY playing. Poor ranger spends a lot of his time sat on the roof of his house watching the sun come and go. If you ask me, I think he's a bit depressed and is probably hitting the brandy too.
I've seen some pretty good posts recently from 'new' names, so I have faith that the Ranger forum is going to survive this recent hit. The profession is tough, it has to be, and the folks that play it are all diamond.
Right, thats got me in the mood for a glass of absynthe.

(hands Ken a cup of Earl Grey)
You can sit on my roof and watch the sunset with me anytime - but lay off the green stuff man. The next thing you'll be telling me is fairies wear boots...
After all the goodbye posts I wrote out a list of all the things I need to do before I can get bored of swg and leave. Its too long to post so I'll just say I'll be here for AT LEAST the next five years, or as long as the bank account holds out. MY main problem is how I can do all the things I WANT to do if I can only afford ONE account??? I think I need to rob a bank. This winning the lottery plan just doesn't seem to be working the way I wanted it to.
In all seriousness, enjoying swg is easy. Saying goodbye to friends is not. Realizing that real life is more important than computer games is also not easy. But necessary. And it makes the game more fun and less frustrating when you do play. If the game is more work than fun it is definitely time to take time off. If your real life is suffering or becoming stressful because you are addicted to gaming - way to go! Er, I mean, it is defitely time to take time off. I do this myself on occasion. Usually I get scared by that glowing ball in the sky and run back to my computer. The sun, she hatessss usss precioussssss...
Um no, I don't need to take time off, why do you ask?

Ah, the great migration has begun.
As you can see I don't post here alot (kinda shy...sorry), but I do read here everyday because of all the great Ranger on this forum. And it hurts to see so many of us leaving the game( we can only hope that one day they will return). But I would like to say farwell to you all and I hope that you WILL once again return.
My your lives be happy with whatever you do.

How'd you know I drink Earl Grey?? Thanks for the roofspace tho!
After reading your post I had a think about the stuff I'd like to do in SWG and yep, so long as the funds hold up, am in for the long haul too.
Lets see... without doing the FULL list, of course. I will master EVERY profession, even the ones that make me go 'urgh no'. Probably not on the same toon, and some of them might take an incredibly long time /shrug
Am going to reinstate my photoalbum and get back round the POI's, doing screenies this time and saving them to my webspace. (Had a hard drive go ***s up just recently and lost around 500 screenies going right back to the first day I learned how to take them.)
Proably get married again, but do a 'proper' wedding this time. Last one was a bit rushed and, well, nuff said.
Och there's loads more. And there'll be more in the future too.
Like Paks says though, enjoying SWG is easy, saying goodbye to friends, thats not. Some folk I've met in game will be remembered a long, long time.
RIGHT. On a more cheerful note, it's raining outside, I've got half a tonne of coal to shift into the big bunker and the dog has dragged my shovel off down the garden 'for fun'.

Well, I don't know about all these Rangers leaving, but I'm currently working my way towards novice ranger (so close I can taste it). I'm not new to SWG, but I am newly back. I originally started close to release as a Droid Engineer, and left when I refused to continue funding SOE when they publicly said it would be 3 months before they even *got* to the DE profession. Now I'm back, this time working towards Ranger/Rifleman. So, while some big names may be leaving, some new, less known names are joining.
