So there I was hunting Rancors on Dathomir and i was a group and decided to show a new guild member the pretty lights of the flash bomb against an ancient bull rancor
And it stuck!
After nearly getting killed in disbelief i pulled out a glowwire and tried it
It stuck!
Sonic pulse? Stuck 2000 trapping xp each. Now ok im a master ranger and all that fun stuff. But i dont remember our traps working against CL98 aggros. At 5-10m last night i was hitting with all traps for 9 out of ten tries. Anyone else want to give this a try and see if they have the same luck? Having glow-wire against the biggest beasts is really nice.

And?
I been sticking traps on these for a while now. I didn't know we couldn't, so in my case ignorance was bliss. Most Kimos are stickable, as are all the rancors. Some Krayts. All of Talus, Corellia, Naboo except for the Albatross. Probably all of Rori. Not the Gorax on Endor.
Good xp huh, pity the trap rate is 25-1 in FS, not worth my time.

Really? I dont ever remember it getting up to a level 98'er before. A giant kimo is cl95 so if you've had luck with those and traps then im talking about my reverse pie hole. So i apoligize i've never been able to get a trap to land on anything bigger then a grassland voritor tracker.
wish there was a way to delete a thread of your own

This was in a group of 5 master combat players and our missions added droids and pets. The mission levels were 89 if that means anything to you.

I was able to stick traps on these in Sept. 2003 when I was leveling Ranger trapping. I was also in a big group since, well, soloing Dath would have been laughed at back then. The highest thing recently I tried was on a stone-skin hanadark and they stuck.
Some of them anyway. Not sure of the CL level onthose though.

Now that you mention it, I left something out.
I stick traps when grouped, as the level of the creatures is "artificially enhanced" to meet the group level. You get a Rancor mission with a large group, the level of said Rancor is higher than the normal spawn Rancor.
I been doing a ton of group hunting lately, boosting a buddy to padawan soon.
sigh...21 boxes for me

Hi Yakuza here on Europe-Chimaera
Does the OQ or any other stat make the trapps we master rangers do, better...do they stick longer or does the effect last longer ??
Or can we use any crap resourcers we have and stil get the same effect ??
Allso damn why isent there any Bio-cloth with + Trapping, u can make a Droid with higher Trapp skill and Harvesting skill then a ranger and i never seen any CA or AA with trapping...
Thank you for your time

I for one have never been able to stick a trap on a rancor, ever. Not even as a Master Ranger... so I just stopped trying.
I wouldn't know if they changed it since I wouldn't dream of hunting a rancor with my template and actual hunting groups a rare these days *sigh*
Had some great fun on rancor hunts in the old days :/

My guild still hunts as a group quite often. We harvest more and its just plain fun to do it. Plus it reinforces why we are a guild. You should try it sometime.
As for the traps sticking to rancors go out and try it with even a soloist. You dont have to be grouped. Find someone hitting rancors and toss a glow-wire. You wont be stealing a kill since it does no (well little) damage. From the tone of this thread im starting to think im not alone in thinking this is unusual

I was on Dath the other night and I stumbled across an Ancient Bull Rancor wild lair. After reading about JB trapping Kimos, I thought I'd give it a try. After seeing 5 p-darts bounce off and ending up at the cloners I gave up.I just went back and shot it in the head
I never have any luck trapping larger creatures

This just in --
Theinsane Ranger was sticking traps on a level 123 (I remembered to look) Dune Kimo this morning. 2k xp per trap with a stick rate of 80%.
And to the spam in a can Tk clown who was with me - dude, that second Kimo was a Giant - learn to freaking read. Yes you got killed, no, I did not engage, I enjoy not being dead. Dumbazz.
Tell me I am not doing enough damage - who's traps slowed, blinded and dropped the resists, sure as hell wasn't you oh no-Scout boy.

For the record:
Its nice to have you back the real JB. We missed you. We were starting to think you had morphed into that nice loving JBMat. But we can see the real ones under there screaming to get out.
