Thread: Rangers and harvesting droids?
I shopped around and got my HB 111 droid for less than the cheapest case of veghash I've ever seen. Not much less but at bit. The Highest price I saw similar droids for was still lower that most of the Veghash on my server, lol.
Between the two I get about 9 -10% more, some where in there. And as a Rifleman the droid saves me a lot of footwork and lets me move on the the next target while he runs off to harvest.

As for harvesting droids, I use one when Im hunting professionally, as those extra few percent in resources can really add up over time. And as said before, you only buy a droid once. But remember you need to buy batteries constantly.

What is you source of info about the capping thing? Cause if there is supposed to be one I have a bug report or two to fill out.
When I was trying to figure out if the +34 veghash I could get was really worth it compared to the +24 veghash I could get I was able to reliable get more but I had to hit animals that had at least 230 units to see it. Or close to that, its been a long time. I've never heard of any food bonus being capped. Or maybe I'm just nuts. Or maybe I had less Creature Harvesting skill then and wasn't capping.... gah. I must know! Twice now people in this forum have said there is no cap. And no one has said other wise.

Its actually quicker for a rifleman, gives more resources, and I dont have to worry about a nightsister aggroing me when I go to harvest that plainswalker corpse thats 2 feet from it.
Apologies if I am wrong, but I thought I once read somewhere that all Chef food bonuses are supposed to stack on top of any natural skill bonuses? I which case even a Master Trando Ranger with FS survival (Creature Harvesting 115?) would still benefit from high modifier Veghash?

The thing that most people Ive noticed seem to have trouble with Veghash, is that a Master Rangers skill is already near the 120 point cap on creature harvesting. As for most "commercial" hash solutions, chefs pump as much as they can in to the modifier (get a 30%-35%), which is overkill to a Master Ranger (who has 100 creature harvesting already). Find a chef to make you 20% hash, that lasts as long as possible, it will last you longer (so you dont have to buy it as often) and you wont be buying extra power modifiers that you cant use.

Attachments and tailor crafted bonuses are capped at +25, with the usual skill maxing at 100 the "cap" is 125. Defense bonuses across professions have been hard capped at 125 to get rid of defense stacking, but food still enhances the defense bonuses. With no other profs to stack the harvesting bonus it isn't capped at all. Master Ranger + Trando + FS bonus + 34 veghash will give you a 149 bonus to which a droid will add a little more.
As for your mention of 120, you're probably confused with the crafters experimentation bonus, 10 experimentation points on an item converts to 1 point to use during crafting. Cap is 25, becomes 2.5 points during crafting, rounded down is 2 points so there's no need to invest in the last 5 points.

What is Trando? Do you mean the character race? Thanks
Yes, Trandoshan.
