I don't know all the details about JTL, but I'm just thinking:
When JTL comes out, initially a large number of players, if not the majority, will immediately transition to space. Unless foods and buffs are somehow usefull to pilots, I don't see there being much demand for harvested meat & hides.
Am I being paranoid?

JTL is not a replacement for the ground game. A lot of people will fly off into space but you should still see stuff on the ground. It will likely be slow for a bit but that gives you time to work on your piloting skills.

I heard that all the hutt fighters are constructed almost entirely out of tat wooly. Don't know if it's true or not, but just to be on the safe side I've already begun a brutalcampaign of bantha genocide. The tuskens have already written me into their crude mythologies, I bet. This ranger plans on making a literal and figurative killing when all those shipwrights start clamoring for resources.
Who knows? Maybe we'll be able to harvest those big asteroid slugs.

Maybe there'll be space life forms (alá ESB) that we can track.
Then maybe we can stick a glow juice trap in a torpedo tube or something

No need to worry. There's always a rush with the newest expansion/feature/patch for the new stuff with any MMO game. But, I don't think docs will ever stop buying Avian and Herbivore. There might be a slow down with chef and BE, but there will always be something to hunt. Worst case, hunt the best stuff, and hold onto it for a few weeks until people settle back into normal playing.

Why would it?
Less players on the ground = more spawns for rangers to exploit. I'd say get harvesting

Actually though, isn't it going to be the same for every profession?
If everyone is up flying space ships, then there'll bea dip in demand for almost everything.

I'm not in beta, but from what I've heard... there won't be that much lost on the ground side of the game.
According to guildmates, ships are expensive to repair and thus people will have to run ground missions just to fix their ships. So, the ground side of the game won't see much loss. I think weapon and armor prices might drop... as well as doc buffs as those things will be less and less used (law of supply/demand).
As for being out of buisness: always gonna need hide for armor and furniture. Docs will need meat for packs.
And if some of the rangers quit being rangers to fly space ships... hey, more power to them. Means I'll have less competition for supplies. Less rangers means less of a supply while demands might stay the same. Law of supply and demand: I get more monies!! While other professions will prolly have to cut prices as people will be saving up for ships and repairing their ships.
Not like we are all that common anyways.

no worries...the ground game will live on...sure some folks will rush to space at first, but it shoudl balance out in the end...people need to earn credits to keep their fancy ships going and I doubt there are janta's and Mokks floating around space...
