put it this way...is there any difference between not using forage and foraging at all?

Go propose something, when i was still scout i found forage useful when im extremely bored. Maybe they should add some other modifier to that branch

I think that when we have our revamp, we ask that foraging be removed instead of beefed up. It is a relic from beta that should not have made it into the live game (at least that is my understanding..I have not Dev quote, so this is not an official statement). It has been suggested the we should be able to forage various items to help us in the field:

  1. Mini-food buffs: People think we should find foods that give mini buffs (lower power and less duration) similar to Chef foods. My response is, we have Chef foods, so why do we need crappy versions of them?

  2. Resist Buffs: People think we should be able to forage foods that give us defense vs. creature derived poisons and diseases. I think these should be inherent skills that allow us to avoid damage from poison and disease.

  3. Healing Herbs, etc: Herbs that allow us to heal ourselves? Bring a medic.

So, who here is with me? Feel free to argue for either side (I may have to clarify my points/reasoning).

Perhaps I should finish my thought . Without those reasons to forage, I can't think of any reason to keep it as a skill. At least Medics can blow up planets with their Medical Foraging (it is otherwise worthless).

You lizzards think strangely, you propose an excellent set of fixes for a useless skill as you are trying to get rid of it.

It's pretty tough for a medic to actually blow up a planet. A master doc, on the other hand has to be VERY careful. That +100 medical foraging can be pretty tough to control.

Owen is going to be all over you Calculus! I already have started an argument with him in the Ranger Re-Vamp thread. He won't push for it one bit.....Unless I guess everysingle one of you pushes for it. It could be fixed, but as you have so simply put it "Why?"

Resists to disease and poison should be earned in skill boxes as you've stated, and we have chef foods, and, personally, as a scout, I've NEVER foraged beyond the first time I tried it when i got the skill. But, that's just me, tell me this though, would new players ever miss it if it were gone? I don't think so. But, I'm not a ranger, yet, so maybe i don't know what i'm talking about.

Rock even more -

Get rid of foraging and rescue and give us two abilities worth the south end of a north bound vrelt.

Foraging - Two uses - bait and pet food, and I don't have pets nor do I fish. Think of some other way to get bait and we can remove foraging totally.

Rescue - Useless, capital U. "But I use it to save the (insert wimpyassed profession here) in our group." Tell lil Mr or Mz wimpyass to stand further back. D'uh!!

Just my thoughts. I am having a rather good day to, having just rocked another 6 stupid enraged rancors worlds. And I cleared the Talus Imp outpost just cause I could.

Keep in mind, I proposed none of those ideas...I simply used them as examples (they came from other Rangers, past and present).

Are we talking about getting rid of foraging altogether or just removing the mod from the Ranger line?

And we could always ask docs to forage us bait. Or use bugs out of lairs - fly fishing anyone?
