Thread: I'm worried, please tell me I shouldn't be...

I was in the Rifleman forum(i swear it was just business!) and was reading this thread. Now if you look down to the first post from Waste93, where he is responding to me, this is the post i'm taking issue with.

He is alluding to another profession picking up rifle mods/skills/certs.....And it's making me very uneasy. Combat post CU is going to be much slower i believe, and more challenging. The devs have clearly said that High End soloing will cease to be possible. that's cool, cuase i can't do it now But, to balance things, then medium stuff will probably also be close to un-soloable....especially for a Master Ranger.

Those of us who aspire to be and are Master Rangers are only allowed one Elite Combat profession, and a novice box(medic for most of us i'm sure). Well, are my days of solo hunting going to come to an end almost entirely? will i be forced to hunting spiders and chubas if i'm not grouped or buffed? They say we will still be able to level our characters solo, after CU....but on what time frame??

Lets face it, Rifle man are getting one great thing out of this CU that i'm sure was begged for from the very begining= the ability to shoot beyond 64 meters! But, i imagine, that they are going to take some of our speed away, and even more of what little defense we have. someone even suggest in the linked thread that they will take practically ALL of our Accuracy While Moving away!

The other thing Waste93 alludes to is Stacking. I was under the impression that the CU was going to remove stacking, or seriously discourage it somehow. I dont' want to have drop some of ranger so i can stack in whatever the hell this new profession is that is going to have rifle mods, just so i can effeciently solo hunt!!!!

Are Master Rangers going to be even more handy-capped to do limited left over skill points after the CU?

And what other profession would get rifles? I think we are the only logical choice(my opinion). If we are the new profession to get rifle mods, than I will probably have a spazz attack, and apologize for any b!tching i ever did, as i would be the happiest person in the game!!!!

Until today, I really wasn't so worried about the CU, but now, with my only combat skills possibly going to someone else, then i will no longer be a "Master" Rifleman because someone else who is not a Ranger will be able to stack to get those extra mods, and they will be the True "Master" Rifleman....

(i realize that pistols and carbines currently share skills with other professions, but i'm niether and am not qualified to speak on their issues)

I'm sure the CU will change every profession, not just Rifleman and ranger..

With the new group harvesting changes, it only encourages hunting with a buddy or two, so I think making things tougher to solo is a good change for the Ranger profession.

If the poster is a member of the Rifleman Alpha test team, then he is well on his way to being banned for violating the NDA.

If he is not, he is talking out his azz.

I am a member of the Scout Alpha test team, the Monkey Makers. I am not saying what the poster said was right/wrong/indifferent - just that he is speaking of things he has no knowledge of.

Quit worrying. Ranger is not being touched by the CU. Of course our combat professions are, but not Ranger.

The monkey makers? No we are the happy happy joy joy team in your honor.

And dont try to mix current with CURB you'll only hurt your brain. I love my NDA and it loves me back. Just remember that dont mix current and future. Its oil and water ok? Thanks (hugs NDA)

Wasnt it already said by the devs that only combat professions were getting tweaked? And since ranger is a support class, we arent being touched.

i'm not sure which poster your refering to, i guess that one saying what was happening to rifleman's mods, i don't know who he is.....

i'm not worried about Ranger, directly, i'm worried that whatever combat profession we chose/keep, is not going to be enough to allow us to solo hunt effeciently.

I"m glad we'll have to group for high end content, I don't want to be forced to group just to collect good carnivore meat on rori! I don't belong to a huge guild, nor do i really want to, and i don't have a long list of active people i'd actually call friends. I like how i play, and i'm sure(from what i've read here) that plenty of other rangers like playing independently most of the time. I realize we don't know a lot of what's going to happen, but the more i do hear, even if it is speculation, the more i don't like it. and now i'd almost wish they hadn't ever said a damn thing until alpha testing was completed!!!

if they were going to say something so early, i think they should have said more. and we wouldn't have all this crap floatingn around the forums. and some people are saying it's still 6 months away!! if it's that long away i think they would have served the greater community better by keeping their mouths shut until maybe 2 or 3 months away.

I dont' know why i'm soo worried and concerned today, but i'm sure i'll get over it. but, since i'm in this mood, i wouldn't mind some answers, and maybe a hug....

Just becuase one can type, does not make them an expert of the CU. I feel fairly confident in saying that we really and truely only know some general things about the CU (we know some of the broad ranging stuff, but we certainly don't have a lot of details on the professions just yet).

We're untouched directly, but by changing combat, it changes us. We're one of the few classes who can't pick up secondary combat skills of any worth, with Doctors and Combat Medics being the only other ones I can think of. Since our livlihoods rely on combat, we're the most directly affected. Slower combat = slower income. If solo combat = a lot slower than grouped combat = the solo Ranger being further penalized. (I really hate that we've always been penalized for choosing to group or not group. No one should face that. I don't have anyone to group with.)

Trickle down effect.

For me, it all depends on what they do in the CU. I am ranger 0440, Swords 0304, MCH, and nov medic (Master pilot too, but who cares). If CH gets nailed again, Like it always does, I'll drop MCH, and swords, and go: commando 0340, Ranger 0440, and nov medic. If CH dosent get bent over, I'll keep MCH, and go: rifles 0034 (Or whatever I need for the proton rifle/berserker riflesexcept master rifles), MCH, Ranger 0440, and nov medic. It all depends on what gets nerfed how. Any word on if theres going to be an Open Beta for the CU? Or an ETA for live? I heard it would launch before ep 3 a few times (Ep 3 is early may) but no confirmation from anyone official that I know of.

DON'T PANIC

Anyone who knows anything significant about the combat upgrade (at least anyone who actually is supposed to know it) is under an NDA. They can't confirm or dispell any rumors without breaking that NDA. But they are in the CU forums as representatives of the player base. You just have to trust the testers to work with the Devs do what is necessary to make this the best game possible. And, given that there are many Rangers on the CU Alpha team, Rangers should be well represented in the CU testing.

Be careful there--several of the alpha team are Bothans.
