I think it would be cool to use a bowcaster, too bad I'm a tran, bowcasters area very "rangerish" weapon I think.

They're kinda cool for decoration tho. If you're into that sort of thing and want, say, 1 of every rifle up on the wall or something.

what happens when you try to equip a bowcaster?

i swear that over the weekend i saw a human female with a bowcaster equiped. and many of the new Rebels that you find in Rebel Controlled cities drop bowcasters as loot.

Some are really not that bad. No armor penetration is all. But for Marksman rifles... they blow those skill boxes away. I leveled marksman rifles about three times faster than my friends. And I used my Krayt caster to finish off the last 2/3rds of the rifleman tree. Eventually I switched to T21 for the armor pen though.

For you role-players out there, keep in mind that a Bowcaster requires extreme strength to be able to wield effectively.

i know this probably isn't the place to go into such detail, but... as a bowcaster connoisseur, i really can't control myself...

the bowcaster best compares to a dlt20: no armor piercing, energy damage, with slightly more damage... the one i've used for so long damages198-354 at a speed of 5.4 (after a decent damage)... one major benefit over other rifles is the low HAM cost, making it easier to hunt unbuffed...

in my collection, i've got the bowcaster i made in august '03, using the first spawn of doonium iron on wanderhome... i had just enough weaponsmith at the time to complete it... but not enough to make a good one, the stats are HORRIBLE... never the less, i carried it for quite some time...

also, a couple of DOT 'casters i was able to get really cheap, since no one uses them... an even better slice than the one i carry (for display purposes, heh)...

and lastly, the epitome of wookiee pride... i just got this bowcaster in an auction, luckily he took my money right before i offered my soul... if this had been any other weapon, i wouldn't have been so interested - but i'm slightly... touched, when it comes to'casters... this one will probably get my anti-decay kit and be my main firearm...

i've been working on a krayted/gorax bowcaster for a while... but the weaponsmith forum lies -it takes 4 identical krayt tissues and 1 gorax shard to make the 'caster... even then, with "good" samples of each, you will be looking at a weapon that does around 160 - 390 damage at 4.5 speed (pre-slice)...

so... as far as weapons go - they aren't spectacular... as far as style goes - nothing beats them... i'm pretty sure you can equip them,if you like the look... you'll just do very little damage when you fire...

the notion of rangers getting the bowcaster cert is actually pretty old...i think it might have been suggested first asalternative to the "high tech bow" for the ranger weapon... i'm sure i can probably dig up some of those old posts, if you want... but mostly, i just wanted to talk about my new 'caster... heh...

Interesting. Nice decor, by the way. There aren't any Rodian-centric paintings are there? Not much of a loot hound, myself.

That post made me wish I was a wookie, and some of the pics in the ranger pics thread made me wish I was human or trando. Twi'lek isnt really a very rangerish species

Well only Bothans get a bonus to the profession. We're all equally 'disadvantaged', don't you think?

Scratch that. Wookies get a Rescue bonus .. whatever that's worth. Also, Sulustans get a trapping bonus and Trandoshans get a harevesting bonus.

Let me rephrase: Only Bothans get a bonus that's worth anything.
