Thread: GORAX....:)
while alot of other players are mad that we can pull it off.....
i managed my first ancient with a cheering crowd lol.
I have very fond memories of my first Gorax. Not solo. But it was pre CU, so no traps. Just me and a TK/Doc.

That's how my first Gorax was too. at the time i was sort of the tank of our small group. i was TKM/Master Pikeman (during a time i couldn't decide what prof to do, so i went with a good melee PVP template). It was me, and a Master BH Master rifleman friend, and the two of us took down a Gorax. That was a huge rush for us, as neither of us had even seen a Gorax before.
Rush it most certainly was.
Can't wait to get in game in a few and try it post-CU
And not a big deal? Mh, that may be true for some of the Uber-L33t Ranged Rangers here, but I for once never soloed anything this big, pre- or post-CU. Why? Simple. I am a Ranger/TKA and only fight with my fists. Factor in that I stay out of civilization for long stretches of time and thus don't always have access to foods, drinks, spices or stuff and you got the reason why I rarely solo anything above my own level. ^_^"
And I never met a Master Ranger able to solo a Krayt Ancient or the like using only melee combat. Maybe I just missed those people, who knows.
So, to me, this is impressive. Again, my congratulations.

A good point; I've gotten so used to the idea of hunting at range that I often forget that there's folks out there who go up-close-and-personal. I'm not aware of anyone who's soloed the suckers with melee skills, either....
(I wish I were Uber-L33t...wait-no, I dont....)
I still haven't solo'd an ancient myself (what can I say, I like hunting with other people). I did it with Lythender last week, though I feel confident I could do it myself. Since then I've solo'd a few canyon krayts, a few grands and some juvies.
But I'd still have to say my fondest memory of killing a krayt came pre-CU, when I was a TKM/Ranger and managed to solo a krayt without buffs or armor. Back then, it was the adhesive mesh trap that would save my life, although the P-dart was great for staying out of the krayts range and using lunge and dragging the krayt through herds of banthas and letting it's area attack aggro them all .
Post-CU, krayt killing is fun. But it is those times when I'm hunting with others, using my BH specials alongside my Ranger skills to make both more powerful that I'm really having fun. Learning to manage aggro when fighting with somebody else, using ranger traps to slow them down and BH specials to stun, dizzy, KD and bleed them is massively fun. Soloing stuff is great, but until they fix the perma-root will simply be a matter of time before you solo the big guys. When they finally do fix the perma-root, it'll still be very easy to get one, but there will always be the chance of a trap failing, so at least there will be some danger.
I have helped at least 10 people get the Krayt badge. Only two to get the Gorax badge.
More people on Tat than Endor.
