Alright, I read a post a min ago saying it would be a good idea to allow a ranger to tame simple creatures as pets. Well that might bug the CH community a bit....so i thought of an alternative.

Instead of taming them, how about we are given a trap to trap them. It would obvisouly be a larger trap, and take more resources to create. But we could use it to trap a small creature for a certain amount of time. Then, take that traped creature to a CH so they can tame it. The creature would only be allowed to stay trapped for x-amount of time though, after that time period is reached we would get a message that says something like "The (creature) has escaped from the trap and ran off", or something along those lines.

I think its a cool idea and id like to know what the rest of the ranger community thinks.

heh..if they ever come out with a trap that will actually root a creature for more than 2 seconds.. I want the option to kill it rather than keep it.

Yea but im not talking about a trap like the ones we have now. I'm talking about an actual trap. Something that holdsthe creature in, and we can keep it in our datapad. Once we sucessfully trap the creature it dissapears into our datapad, where we keep the trap with the creature in it.

Anyway, do you really throw traps at babies in order to kill them?

I'm talkin about a trap that we can use on babies only. A trap that we can carry around with us, with the creature in it.

I was poking fun at the fact that the "awesome" Adhesive Mesh trap can't trap and hold anything for longer than a second or two.

I don't know.. I think Rangers are two dependent on the CH thing myself. I wish we had something to completely set us apart. I think we need to be ANTI-CH's if anything.

Everything about Ranger, other than the name and roleplay aspect of it, is just plain broken or lame. I would much rather see us differentiate ourselves with specialty weapons like a Dart Gun, kick ass traps and snares, the ability to fish with nets, forage items that no one else can, etc etc.

I am a CH'er now.. but you know? I just think there are too many in the game.. I want so bad to just drop anything to do with pets, but then what am I left with? A Ranger title with a bunch of broken skills?

Anyway.. if you are taking a vote, I vote "NO" on anything that makes us more "CH" like. Just my opinion.

**edit**.. I thought you had to be tougher than that to be Ranger!

Look, I said nothing "hate"ful in my post. I am a 3-3-1-3 Ch and 3-2-4-3 Ranger.
I am just saying that all everyone appears to care about in this game is using pets.

That means the game is completely lopsided. You should HAVE to own a pet to be an effective hunter.. and its practically a necessity. If Ranger were worth the effort, pets would be a non-issue, because we would be the king pet/animal stoppers! We ain't.

And.. if you never log on.. and then when you do, this is the only type of comment you have to offer? Then maybe you should KEEP not logging on.

BAH.. typos... I mean you SHOULD NOT have to own a pet to be an effective hunter.

And I was just ribbing you, Dex, you know I love ya.

I feel the same way about the whole pet situation in the game. It seems like almost everyone has a pet. But, the idea im talking about has nothing to do with us actually getting an ability to use a pet. Just the ability to trap one. Think of the trap as a cage, where we can hold the pet in untill we give it to a CH. We don't have the ability to actually tame it, but we have the ability to trap it.

It's just another way we could do our part to help out. I know quite a bit of CH's in SWG. They ask me all the time to track them down this creature or that creature. But, they need to physically be with me so they can tame it. This is just an alternative, a way where they dont need to be there with me. I can trap the creature and then give it to them later on.

That idea actually has some merit. Like "Human Harvesting" instead of just slaughtering the animals. Hrmm.... I support it only if I can like set a stationary trap and come back and find critters in it.

Thats a good idea to. Place a trap down, then be able to come back and check it out every now and again to see if we caught any babies. Well, its the start of a tought

i like it...it would be cool to set a trap and find a baby animal in it the next day...if we could set numerous traps and get waypoints to them sorta like houses, but there would be little or no matinence. So we could set up traps along most of the planets and get stuff for ch's
