Thread: What do you see your Ranger as?

I see myself as an explorer and hunter. For some reason, I enjoy the "grind" (put in quotes because I don't see it as a grind, which suggests a great deal of tedium) of hunting. I like going to exotic locales and checking them out. I'm not a powerful player, but that's alright.

I'm a "one-stop-organics-shop". I provide various organics to people who need them: bone, hide, meat, wood, beans, fungus, etc. I deliver to their vendors. I make money so I can explore more. I just started exploring the adventure planets and I couldn't be happier! This is what I want to do and be, an explorer. Ranger is, IMHO, the best profession to help me do this.

I have a few duties as a guilded ranger;

1. Point man on expeditions-report back any impending danger.

2. Provide camps for healing

3. Acquire resources for my guild

4. Use my abilites to help take down beast-type targets

These duties do not necessarily apply to each or other, or to every situation.

I originally saw myself asthe Laconic Wanderer - the guy that comes in to town quietly, buys what he needs, then disappears again. Everybody knows not to mess with me, and I'm perfectly happy to live alone and from day to day.

I probably have some military background, where I learned my extensive wilderness (and combat - see below) skills.

I wanted to factor combat skills into this equation, too, but it's hard to get *really* good in pvp with only 110 points left I originally saw myself as a Rambo/Loner type, who probably used to besomething special forcesrelated, but I couldn't work out theskill points to do that

With melee skills, I'm not very 'military,' and with rifle skills(rifle being the prime example of a good military-esque officer) you can't solo for beans.I'm still working out this conundrum hehe ~J

I see my Ranger as a guy that likes to be in the woods as much as possible avoiding people as much as possible too.

I agree we help people whoget in trouble doing crazy solo missions with huge critters when they are not ready yet.

My Ranger is also a business man hunter killing plenty to make a profit and helping out his buddy who wants to become an armorsmith or maybe a Commando.

Im TRYING to see my ranger as a Ninja... i got ranger so i could sneak up to unsuspection rebels Cut them up, then hide back in the wilderness... Two problems... they suck at PvP and Camo wont work on other players! Whats with that?! I need to trap the evil rebel pets but... i cant trap them, soi have to watch my team die as i burst run away... Tracking is useful in PvP but thats about it. Can we pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease get camo to work for PvP?

Just out of curiousity and seeing if I am in majority or minority. I am currently building my Ranger as a Para Military type sorta based on the Antarian Ranger. I think our base Ranger skill set gives us great stuff in the PvE world but could use a upgrade in PvP. I am currently leaning toward Master Ranger with 0/0/4/3 in the BH line to give me that up close and personal ability in PvP if the situation arises. I will still have my Master marksman skills to hunt PvE with.

I see myself as more of lone traveller. A tinker per say. I enjoy the wilds and also enjoy crafting so most of my time is spent hunting, camping and crafting. I just wish I had a few more XP points to use!

I see myself as a spy, a saboteur, someone who lays booby traps to confuse, disorient and slow down the enemy and thin out their numbers. Using proper tactics a ranger should be able to demoralize, confuse, and either funnle the enemy into an ambush or spread them out and take them out one by one with an elite squad of troops to back him up. We use the environment as our weapon.

I've brought my entire character (Vorlin Seratos on Gorath) to be an unarmed combat ranger (TK/MR currently). If they ever put traps to affect PCs and "human" mobs, I'll be good to go. I'm hoping the camouflage will be modified so that we can camouflage our tents (concealing the people in the camp vicinity) and then I'll be a spy/combat ranger.

I am a Ranger...

I skin things
I butcher things
I bone things (remove meat from bones)
I forage things, roots and bugs
I camp
I trap
I rescue (save the pretty lady dancer from hermit spider)
I track NPC's
I track Other Players
I track Animals/Creatures
I heal my own wounds when in camp
I mask my scent and Can make camo for other players and from each planet.
I buy metal, polymer, flora and wood from artisan's
I tip Medic's
I tip Dancer's
I crawl really fast
I can Dodge melee hits
I can make other people miss me with guns
I wear My Title Proud

I am a Ranger with a Combat Minor
see all of above and add this
I shoot at things with success
I Kill creatures and NPC's and Player's
I kill things with success

I am a Ranger with a Rifle, I can't be a Ranger with out my Rifle as it is attached to me as my own eyes are attached to my skull.

Bottom Line I'm the Master of Wilderness, Track of Man and Beast, Trapper of Beast's and use the wild to sustain myself.
Only need to head to town for Minor supplies and a good time (heal bf)

Ranger in my eyes isn't an elite combat profession but more of a Game Warden, god for bid I say this A National Park Ranger. A Hunter

I even have a Blaze orange Jacket I wear when I hunt In game.

Can we be uber elite strike force protectors of jedi's and maiden's. Sure if you pack enough Power in a combat profession to do it.

I see myself as a information gatherer. I set up camps in remote regions and scout for hidden Imperial camps. I report back to my guild and organize attack parties. I relay numbers of enemies and sizes of the installation. I also offer my guide abilities to get them into these remote locations to take on the Empire. I also use my camps to set up a strategic base in which to launch and plan these attacks from as well as being used and a makeshift M.A.S.H. station.

I decided (as I always do) to roleplay the character beyond the norm. Since I study druidry in real life, it's hard for me to step away from that, and since rangers are a by-product of druids, I figured it works well... my bio works decently enough to fit the concept in-game:

"You look upon a man in his low 30's, who exudes a type of silent confidence not found in most others. A lifelong student of the druidic concepts, Caydyn serves his role as druid by acting as a guardian for an equal balance within nature, ridding the galaxy of any source which
