OK. We need help with our profession. Crafters need help with organic resources (well these guys do: Architect, Armorsmith, Artisan, Bio-Engineer, Chef, Combat Medic, Doctor, Medic, [Smuggler for spices...,] and Tailor). With some work, we should be able to get some community support for our problems. Here is what I propose:

We work together as a community to create a statement to all the crafters that need organics (see above). In this post we should discuss the quantity and price of the resources they need. We attempt to explain our problems(mainly the lack of reason to become a Ranger and the harvesting benefits received from doing so anyway). We ask them to support us in our attempt to get a few fixes to our class quickly and in an attempt to get an organic resource/Ranger/Scout themed publish (turning us into Outdoorsmen [or something similar] and giving us the ability to properly supply the market with organics [reducing the current inflation]).

This statement would be posted to all the appropriate crafter forums by whomever the devs decide to make our correspondent (we should also see if Delta is willing to help us in this--I'm guessing he would). It would also be posted to all the Galaxy forums by a member of that galaxy's community. Our correspondent would ask the correspondent of the crafter communities to sticky the post (or do what they think is most likely to get the post seen). Each post made would have a representative of this community responsible for answering questions that come upand for raising any relevant concerns in a post to our community (I hope there are enough of us to go around. If not, I hope some people are willing to do double shifts). This should increase our visibilty much more than any live event would. And it allows everyone to take part. Is anyone interested?

Nemo,

This is a good idea, but...

...most of them would respond - fix us first!

I've asked TH what we can expect in the way of profession changes. I'm waiting on a response that I can let you guys know, but from what I've been reading, I think we all better get used to the fact that the focus is now on combat and GCW changes, and not on profession changes. We'll need to be patient - which we're pretty good at now.

This, I think is a great alternative to some of the "Being mature doesnt help, lets start whining" posts.

Once we get a correspondent, the rangers can organize a simple request to all the crafting professions to support us and themselves in giving rangers the harvesting boosts they really do need.

I think that I should include a few caveats however

What to say:
  • Ask crafting/ semi crafting professions to support our petition to have harvesting boosted.
  • Have each profession explain how this would help their profession
  • Keep the petition specific, short and concise...not to elaborate, farms or other minutia.
  • Direct the crafting professions to the harvesting portion of the proposal and have them comment on the relevant parts.

    What not to say:
  • Lets not focus on how this would benefit only the rangers, but the game as a whole
  • Lets try not to start organizing a strike, as this would only hurt us, but the crafting professions and there is a chance that a strike would backfire and make us a loathed profession.

Once again, we need to keep it simple and garner the support of the entire community and I think that we would have a good chance of being heard.

    Thanks Nemo0

WhatAgon said. I think this will be much more beneficial than a strike or a march. It would protect the economy, and show that we are still mature.

That was the idea. While a strike or march might be fun, it really just ends up hurting people. And, as long as we focus mainly on a few small fixes first (i.e. stuff that can be done as an extra feature in a publish, like harvesting mod improvement) then I don't see crafters complaining to fix them first. Plus, this helps them almost as much as it helps us. More resources means lower prices. And we definately need lower prices. Maybe we should leave out the request for a revamp, though. Delta does have a very good point in that. And the devs have said they will get around to it eventually. Think of this more as getting a bug fixed that is ruining the economy. And the easiest bugs to fix would probably be the harvest rate and trap effectiveness (as they just need to either increase the effectiveness of the mods or increase the amount given to a Ranger). Both of those would let us get a lot more resources (traps by letting us kill big stuff and harvest rate by letting us get more from those kills).

So essentially what we need as a "team" is the following..

1 Ranger per crafting forum (or a Ranger willing to do double/triple duty)

Best case scenario, the Rangers assigned to each crafting forum are already a member of that community. Worst case scenario, the Ranger assigned at least has a good amount of experience with that crafting profession.

1 Ranger pergalaxy forum (or the aforementioned willing to do extra duty)

The Ranger assigned to the galaxy forum must play on that galaxy, and best case should be an active member of that galaxy's forum community already.

Shall we start with volunteers? I'm willing to take Valcyn, but if there is a Valcyn Ranger who is actually active on the Valcyn boards, they'd be better qualified than I.

If we agree this is the path we want to take,I can take Wanderhome, unless someone else wants it.

Although I am not currently a Ranger anymore, I've spent a great deal of time as a MRanger, and do actively participate in Ranger issues. I do plan on going back to Ranger as soon as the profession is given some usefullness.

The only issue I see with the price fixing is this. What is to keep players from buying up our hard earned resources that we are selling atreasonable prices, and turning around and selling at current market value.

If there is no Current Ranger willing to take Kauri, I would be glad to, although I think Someone who is currently a veteran Ranger would be more accepted .

We don't need to say anything about price fixing. Most of the high cpu offers are given by the crafters anyway. What we are asking for is a way to increase supply. By increasing supply, the crafters won't need to offer so much anymore (as there will be enough to go around anyway). The main problem right now is that organic resources are hard to come by. The people who might normally be interested in getting them (some Rangers and Scouts) can't keep up with the demand. Crafters are offering lots of money to try and pull people away from doing other things (like running BH missions or camping spawns in caves) and getting them to hunt down the resources. If the harvesting rate is increased, there will be less need to offer high prices to get the resources. While Rangers and Scouts could still sell at high prices, the crafters could just go to someone a little more reasonable. And the people still wanting 200cpu won't be able to sell the stuff at that price (making them lower their price if they want any money at all).
