Reading where some people had problems with their harvesting macro - specifically getting an error message saying the macro was not working.
I think I have found the reason. I could lie and say it was through careful experimentation, but will be truthful and say I fell over it.
Being attacked by Lost Aqualish - scads of them (3 groups of spawn - maybe 5). I dropped 3 or so, and used my harvest macro on them while fighting others. My macro contains loot all, mainly what I was going for, figuring they may poof before I dropped all their buddies.
Battle won, I used the macro on probably 10 or so, during combat. There is the problem, harvest does not work during combat.
I go and kill some torturs - and hit the macro and got the error message. Hmmm. I am close enough, not in combat - ok, rats. Harvested using radial. 3 mission later, I am still using the radial.
Logged andate dinner. Come back and see some targets of opportunity by my house - dropped 3 wrix. Used macro - it worked. Now I am thinking - oh no say the masses!
Stupid Aqualish are nearby my house, drop them, use the macro in combat and it worked. Battle over. I drop a fynock, macro fails.
Ok, not exhaustive research, but research nonetheless.
Conclusion - Sometimes, not always, and not on all servers, using your harvesting macro containing /loot all in combat messes up the macro for use in noncombat.
I am not doing any more research, it's a pain to log in and out to fix my macro. No more combat use of my harvesting macro.
Anyone else notice this??

I've never tried that, I have a hotkey for each of the organics. For looting I just double click the body while still in combat. It's quicker than the radial, and saves space on my toolbar. I might be missing something but it seems to me a loot all macro is a waste of time. Is there a benefit of said macro other than using a keystroke instead of doubleclicking?

Try reversing the order....
/loot all;
/harvest Meat;
or vise versa...
I have mine hotkeyed to the numpad and they work great, saves a ton of time.....
also remember you cannot harvest in combat, or out of combat with any states still applied to you.

Same for me, ive never had a problem with that order.
I have 3 macros set up on my number pad keys for easy access
0: /lootall; /harvest meat
1: /attack
2: /lootall; /harvest hide
3: /lootall; /harvest bone
4: /peace
I use the directional keys for movements so the macro keypad buttons are only an index finger away
If this technique helps you feel free to use it, it works wonders for me.

Ebe, you can map macros (an other premade game commands) the keyboard in the following menu.
ctrl-o (option) => controls tab => keymap (a button at the bottom of the controls window)
This will bring up a fairly self explanatory window, but you need to know that macros are listed under the 'custom' tab. Also, you need to make sure you hit apply before you say ok (after you bind the commands to the keyboard) or else nothing will work...

I find that my loot macro is much, much faster than mousing and doubleclicking.
Personally, I've never had a problem with my /loot & /harvest macros being fouled up due to combat, but I think I'll test it too.

I tie mine to ALT-CTR-H,M and B. /loot all is the first command in all of them, never had a problem.

Here is the quick list for mine
- harvest hide, /loot = ctrl + q
- harvest bone, /loot = ctrl + w
- harvest meat, /loot = ctrl + e
- /conceal, /maskscent = ctrl + r
- /dismount, /pause 1, /areatrack, /pause 5, /mount (insert vehicle name or pet here) = ctrl + t
- /loot all = ctrl + x
- to change into clothes = ctrl + alt + c
- to change into armor = ctrl + alt +a
I have a couple for spamming specials, but the ones I have listed (which do not have the correct macro syntax) are the most helpful.
95% of the time I use the /lootall hotkey that I made (i.e. ctrl + a) to loot NPCs (sometimes I get into harvesting too much and accidentally try to harvest the NPC

I have my keypad setup like this:
7==stand
8==kneel
9==go prone
4==harvest bone
5==sit
6==harvest hide
1==loot all
2==harvest meat
3==maskscent
0==areatrack
I find it quite usefull for myself, i loot NPCs without trying to harvest them, I just thought its more friendly to the game not to have to tell me that I can't do it
While I use a quick 6+1 on a rancor for example. It's also usefull in a group where just one person gets all loot to share it with the group afterwards, I can harvest and don't have to care about loot getting in my backpack by accident .
