Thread: Why camping God...why....

I'm ranger 4/0/4/4.. I really want to master it I love this profession but...... uuuuughhhh..... more camping. It was hard enough to get through camping in scout and it still puts a bad taste in my mouth. Camps are a part of being I ranger, I know.. but again, UUuuuuughhhh the grind is sooo slow and boooring, even crafting camps. Ok Ill be on camping tonight, laters

If you are in a guild that has dancers/musicians/miners/docs you might be able to get them to help. There are "ways" of speeding it up but they all have to be dedicated to a bit of grinding themselves.


Still, I feel for ya. I did it the hard way, and RP'd it too. probably could have halfed the time to get Master had I just done the grind.

Its a hell of a lot easier than most other crafting trees !

Just make sure your crafting camps while sat in a camp... every little extra bit of xp helps

Hi - I've done it twice now (the first time the hard way), and it's really not that hard. I would say just use your camps, group with people, etc..., but I have a feeling that that's not the answer you want....


So, get yourself a lot of hide, bone, and metal, three or four crafting tools, and a crafting macro. Then use the macro in conjunction with your tool to make camps. It won't take long at all. In fact, I think Delta's scout guide has a macro for you to use.

yeah I figured the least painful way was to grind camps..in camp. Thanks I will check out that macro :-)

Yep - if you don't use a crafting macro, then make sure you make camps in practice mode -- you get more XP when you make things in practice mode.

Actually the least painful way is a big-game guild hunt. I got most of my xp hunting spiders on dath, krayts oon tat, and Kimos on Lok, etc. Of course, things are different now that you can solo everything. Well. Not ME. But some people can.

If you are up for some adventure and furious typing you can trick some Mos Eisley newbs into forming a hunt group with you. The camp time in between lairs is appreciated by them as a time breathe, recover, and ask you more questions. Put up your HELPER tag and you may even get a badge out of it.

My husband has almost made a profession out of helping new players. Our guild moved right to the outskirts of Eisley and he put up special vendors that specifically carry low-priced newbie weapons for player who don't have the higher certs yet. He takes his often massively wounded self to the cantina and always tips the ATK players 5-10k for talking and not being zombies. He is often hunting with new players and we've met a lot of great people that way. Some of them are not-so-new now and doing great. I joke with him that I am the Resource Ranger and he is the Park Ranger, taking tourists on expiditions to see (and kill) the local Tat wildlife.

If and when I go back up the camp tree on Radiant this is how I will do it.

Another way to do it, or at least break up the monotony, is to fish from your camp. Remember you get exp for fishing too. There's a trick to doing it tho. You gotta find a shallow beach area and stand right at the edge of the water and drop a camp, move back a smidge if it says you can't set up camp in water. If you do it right, the camp will be submerged in an inch or so of water. Then you can fish without leaving the camp. Grinding out the camps is a little quicker, but if you fish instead, you can sell what you catch and if you get a good sized stack, some people will pay a pretty penny for it, at least they used to.

get yourself a good crafting macro (see the forums) and camping goes VERY fast.


I did scout survival 1 to 4 in about an hour.

Just sit in a camp and craft camps in practice mode.



This is the macro I used (name it "crafting").


Also you will need to find the schematic number on your own.

Only macro that have ever interested me were related to harvesting, camo and area track while mounted I wrote my own for those...

I have a nutter in my guild (only joking Krease ) who mastered Ranger for the challenge, he camped all weekend outside of Coronet, got trained and got the shiny title, then dropped it next day /shudder
