Thread: An Idea to get Noticed (Maybe)

Well, it seems to have worked for the Wookiees ....how about we give it a shot.

I'd like to suggest that all Rangers, on each server,(Masters especially) put on their titles and go to Theed Starport on April 10th at any point in the day you sign on - all day long.

A peaceful demonstation is what I'm asking for. Just go there, have a seat or stand ...do not spam. We'll take screen shots, post them here, and have ONE Master Ranger per server be the spokesperson atthe rally on each server. The speaker will say a formatted message which we will create under this thread with regard to our needed changes.

I'd alsolike to suggest we make the message of roleplay quality ....not a blatant cry to the DEVs, so as not to disrupt what little true Star Wars atmosphere there is.

Somethingsuch as:

"We, the Rangers of this world and many others, seek the aid of our fellow citizens. Our technologiesneed improvement, our training has over timebecomesubstandard ...our number isdeclining. We come here in peace, to speak with one voice - we matter and we need your help. The universe has seen much improvement since the day each of us was born, but we - the Rangers ...remain simple folk, unchanged. We are the working class, providing for you all your needs with oursweat and blood. Help yourselves by helping us to be recognized, so that we too can improve our way of life and in so doing become more able to provide for you withour work. Thank you."

I really believe we've got the mature people to pull this off nicely. What I wrote above is just a quick example, but we just need to be subtle and still get the point across.

Please give your thoughts. Thanks for taking the time to check out this idea.

Good idea but... I dont think there are enough rangers around to make us stand out. It will be more like "who are those three wierdos standing in the corner." And having our ranger titles out, im sorry to say, but i droped ranger until it gets improved, or i get tired of playing with other things.

A protest like that won't work very well for us. There are very few Master Rangers around (some servers probably don't have any) and we can't do what the wookies did to boost our numbers (just create new wookies on one server for the march). Another problem is that most other professions would have no idea what is wrong. They would see the start and /addignore us as whiners. It might be fun to do but I don't think the ingame community would even notice (much less the devs). But, while discussing what we can do, have a look at this thread and see what you think.

half of any one server is a Wookie, that would work for them. I bet there are about 15 MRs on any one server. The great majority of novice are BH that took the tracking tree for marks, and seldom even read this forum. No one would notice. Thanks for trying, however.

Ranger is not a profession. It's a lifestyle.

As both a Wook and a Ranger, there's one main difference here - If you don't like Ranger, it's entirely possible to leave and come back at a later date. Wookiees not having armor was nearly game-breaking, and required a complete character restart.

We'll just have to be patient and hope the Devs eventually give us some much-needed lovin'

On Radiant, the only species less common than Wookiees are Bothans and Rodians. There are probably twice as many Trandoshans as Wookiees, and almost EVERYONE seems to be Zabrak or Human, except the crafters, which are almost entirely Mon Cal and Twi'lek.

How about this... collect a large quantity of high quality resources. Put them up for sale in bazaars at very low prices... collect the names of the people who buy them. Then mass mail those people with a message of thanks, and a reminder that those resources were collected by rangers, followed by a short explanation of the problems rangers face (broken craftables, few special skills, slim bonuses, etc.) and how fixes to our profession could impact their profession (more affordable resources, better resources) if our issues were addressed. The same could be done with our craftables, though that only reaches holo-grinders. But all of this is just blah blah if we don't give them some action to take. I'm a ranger and I don't even know what action to take to register a complaint. The boards ain't it... so what is it?

I dont think this would work to well on my server. Having looked back at Owen-Lars post on "Current Ranger Population Count" , it would appear that I am the only Ranger on my server

Hehehe, actually, if you wanted to make a bigger impact, you should invite only the 0-0-4-0 rangers to the protest Of course those are also the folks that tend not to care about ranger so they could care less about the protest. Oh well.

I dont think thats a great idea imo.

I think it could cause trouble, spam people and basically be a pain in the ass.

The 'speech' is far too long and anyone who isnt a ranger will show less care than the devs for our situation.

All it will do is provoke a "your profession isnt broken" why should you be loved" and id have to spend all day explaining why wehave a sub standard skillset, lackluster advances over scout and why in general we cant hunt better than someone taking two combat professions and novice scout.

in all honesty i just think we need to be patient. the devs will see how we have been patient and reward us possibly better than we expected. I dont know about anyone else but ranger is probably in a good state of being compared to other classes. so i'd like to ask that we be patient andlet the devs. come to us they arent stupid and wont just skip over us. that wouldnt be logical at all. if this does happen i wont attend.....

We gave them well-presented cases for months and months, then a month after the protest, we get actual working armor. I think even a Bounty Hunter could see the connection.
