Peko Peko Albatross.
I've been playing SWG for a little over 6 months now, and i've heard of the fabled Peko Peko Albatross, but have never seen one...
until last night
It was a normal day, I checked the holo-net for any new email messages, and find an email my a good friend of mine, asking if I could retrieve as much Nabooian Animal Bone that I can.
So I head off to Theed, and get myself a buff (just in case things start to go south fast). I then make a waypoing in my datapad for The Valley of Omens (a large commercial center on the other side of Naboo). I then set out on foot, with my trusty Vibro-Knuckler in hand.
I stop to kill anything along the way, Gnorts, Shaupauts, Nargalatches, ect.
When i got about halfway between Theed, Keren, and The Royal Lake Resort, I see something that just don't look right. About 85 meters in front of me is a Peko Peko. I absolutly love these birds, very beautiful. But something was different about this Peko Peko. At first I couldn't put my finger on it. Maybe it was the fact that it wasn't flying in a flock of other Peko Pekos. Or maybe it was the fact that I only came halfway up it's shin, but something just wasn't right about it.
I was staring face-to-face (face-to-talon is more like it) with a Peko Peko Albatross. I've heard rumors of these huge birds from some of the more grizzled Rangers hanging around the local cantina, but I thought they were just exagerating, similar to how i exagerate about the size of the Ray that got away from me on my last fishing trip.
Well, I decide I should examine this bird a little more thoroughly before I just start picking a fight with this beautiful beast. I came to realize that this bird's got some pretty thick skin on it (similar to some sort of natural armor i've seen on some Rancors on my last trip to Dathomir) From the looks of things, I'd be this bird's dinner if i tried beating on it with my little Vibro-Knuckler. But I couldn't pass up the chance for a trophey like this. This is the trophey of a lifetime. Few hunters will ever see such a beast, and if i can return to town with some proof of this creature, then I'll be a legend in the cantina. Who knows, they might even write a song about Ol' Oreet and his Albatross.
But being the smart hunter that I am, I knew i couldn't take this beast alone. I needed some heavier firepower than I had. I hopped on the Comm Channel and got a hold of an old hunting buddy of mine. Myself and Lochi have spent many a good time out on Endor hunting Mereks and whatnot. He may be a clothing maker, but put a good PowerHammer in his hand, and no one will ever call him a sissy. Lochi was definitly up to the task of helping take down this bird. And his wife, Shamee, is no slouch either. She's a woman of many talents. She is trained in the Teras Kasi Arts same as I am, but she is also well versed in heavy firearms such as Flamethrowers and Launcher Pistols.
Our group assembles close to the Peko, but far enough away to not spook it. After a hard fought battle, we were victorious. And to the victors go the spoils. We found 7 intact Peko Peko Albatross Feathers on this creature. Oreet now has his trophey to show his drinkin' buddies back in Theed.
But that wasn't the end of it. We most have found a nesting spot for these birds, as shortly afterwards a second Albatross showed up. After another hard fought battle, we were victorious. Unfortunatly, this one didn't end up in good enough shape to find any of the valuable feathers we hoped for. We decide we should stick around here, in case any more show up.
Our patience paid off, as a third Albatross came by. By now we had our system down, and we knew exactly how to take these beasts down quickly and effieciently, while causing little harm the feathers we do desparately seeked. This third one provided us with 7 more intact feathers.
We began to prepare for the trip back to town to recover from our hard-fought battles, when a fourth one showed up. This was indeed our lucky day. We killed the fourth one even quicker than the third one, but managed to only find 5 feathers on this one. By the looks of things, we could stay here all night hunting these birds.
So we decided to continue to wait for another one, but after a half hour of waiting, we decided that if there were any more Albatrosses in this area, they now knew better than to come back to this nesting location. Apparently these creatures are smarter than we give them credit.
So we split up the feathers we gathered, and head our separate ways. I needed to rest, so I hopped on my trusty Kaadu, Mickey, who's been with me for a long time. He's travelled all over the galaxy with me, and I am sure he was glad to return to Naboo. He hadn't been home in a long time. He was jumping flips, and other tricks to show his happiness. After calming him down a bit, I hop on, and we ride off into the sunset. "The boys in the cantina will never believe what just happened. Or maybe they will..." I think to myself as I tuck the feathers into my backpack.

Squad Leaders are great for the Force Strike mobs (AoE dizzy/knockdown/stun/etc, like albatrosses). Clear the dizzy and stun right away for you(well, assuming the dizzy didn't hit the Squad Leader). As for damage, the commando's flame burns should have been helpful. When taking down the really big stuff dots are extremely useful. Although the Swordsman might have been trying for mind attacks, making a health burn somewhat pointless. But now I'm just rambling. Good job.
well, I kept knocking the Albatrosses down with UnarmedKnockDown2, and spammed the hell out of UnarmedHeadHit 1. The swordsman was spamming his best mind pool attack. I don't know what attack the Commando used, but she was using her Launcher Pistol, and I didn't see her use the Flamethrower at all. It's Health and Action pools took almost no damage at all during the fight, so she must have had some sort of mind pool attack with the launcher.

Did she have any BH? Eye shot targets the mind pool but I'm not aware of any other pistol special that does it.

eyeshot is a bleed shot isn't it?
i know she's not a BH, she is a TK Master, Master Commando, and i think whatever points she's got left are either in scout or medic.
is a Launcher Pistol considered a Pistol or a Heavy Weapon? (as far as specials and XP go)

Eyeshot is a mind damage attack. And it is the only pistol one I am aware of (might be others but I'm not aware of them). No idea what she was using as a special with a launcher pistol that did mind damage without it.
Launcher Pistol is pistol as far as specials go and a heavy weapon as far as xp goes. It's a bit of a mix.

Congraulations! It's really fun and exciting when you finally get one of these. Peko's are my favorite creature as well. And ... yea ... the sky sure is pretty when you are fighting the Albatross!

Maybe I am lucky, but I have found a few spawns without looking. I wandered in the plains north of Theed looking for babies when I was levelling CH; Ifound 3 spawns from just doing that in a few days span. Of course, I have never had any real combat skills, so I did seraches for Riflemen to come kill it, which they did, and gave me part of the loot for finding it. I got killed by one because I didnt realize how much of a radius their area attacks have, lol.

haha, I remember about 6 months ago RoB was out on Naboo hunting avian like there was no tomorrow. We were doing like runs of missions of 10-15 people in a group, killing kaduu and any peko we found.
Low and behold after finishing a lair, an Albetross spawned, we proceeded to take it down. As we are recovering from that fight, a second one spawns not far off. It came down in time. Now we are a little worse for wear, and about to head to town, when a third one spawns right on top of us. This one took out about half the group since buffs were going, but the doc kept us going enough for the group to reform. I ran off after the thing with my pop-gun, keeping it engaged so it wouldn't despawn. None the less, we had three in one night.
That week doing kaadu missions RoB took out like 5-6 Albetross. There is nothing RoB can't take out.

Walk out the back of Theed spaceport about 700m and you will see one there most times you go look. If you stay there it will spawn 1 after another until you get all four of them about 5 minutes aftereach harvest. Easiest place to consistantly find them.

Correction: Launcher Pistol specials are Pistols but XP is Heavy Weapons. Sorry Oreet but leezards aren't very helpful.

Well, I've walked out that way many times (I hate walking to and from the main part of Theed so I use the back entrance of the starport to get in and out of Theed, usually walking north for about 1k before circling around to wherever I was going) without seeing one

YAY!
And a grand tale too!
(Quick one... I was out on the north shores of Naboo, looking for a place to drop a city hall. Picky, picky me wanted somewhere with sea views, maybe some flat beaches nearby...
Anyhow, am wandering about, trying to get 'just' the right place, clearing lairs, testing how the building will sit (I also want enough slope to be able to get a nice high frontage... when I see thie HUGE bird fly into the overhead view.
I esc out of that and there, about 50m away, is a Peko Peko Albatross. I have no chance of soloing it, but, heck, it'd be an hounour to get killed off by one of these again. Drop to prone, ping a couple of concealshots in to virtually no effect.
Just then I hear a diesel engine nearby and up drives a VW campervan, filled with hippy wookiee...Green Protesters! I have SO got to stop drifting off to sleep while am in game, lol. I see the weirdest things and don't know if they're real game features or just my imagination going wild)
