As most of you know, finding someone for training can be difficult.Often I'vehad to go through the town trainer for training which is pricey. I founda Master Rangeron Theed the other daywhen I needed training to two different skills and politely asked for training if they weren't busy. They said yes, but they charge 1k per increase. Well, 1k is a heck of a lot cheaper than the trainer so I said yes. But it still left me feeling somewhat disillusioned. I had been feeling a sense of camaraderie amongst the rangers since there aren't a huge number of us and this kind of deflated that feeling a bit. I personally wouldn't charge ever for another ranger. What do you do?

- I never expect a tip...Though I never give one back when I do receive one.

- But... I also expect everyone who wants training to come out to my location in the field.

my opinion is that learning anything except Master from a Master is silly. those guys don't need the apprentice xp anymore and paying for training is crazy as you are doing someone a favor by giving them free apprentice xp. The master doesn't need that, which is why he would charge for it. From that point of view it kinda makes sense.

I do not charge to train fellow rangers, but I respect anyone's personal decision to do so.

I have a mentor who has trained me, has given me pets, and has provided fantastic advice... all for free. I did not know him before I started playing and we have never grouped. I just asked him if he would train me in a CH skill and the next thing I knew, I was trained and he was handing me an ancient reptilian! He has also trained me in Ranger skills (he is a Master CH and Master Ranger), all for free.

I think it's only right for me to do the same to others. Pass along the knowledge.

I've never charged anyone for training, and I'll usually put up a camp and wait for them in the field (yes, you come to me). I have never had to run around shouting "FREE TRAINING BLAH BLAH" at the Starport and always have three times as much apprentice experience as necessary when getting a Master title.

And since there's never a shortage of people wandering around asking for training of some kind or other, you can tell that any one you doing the 'free training!' shout thing has ignored helping everyone else in the game -- until he suddenly realized he needed them to help him get his apprentice XP. That's the last person I would go to for training.

- That could be a little difficult as it used to cap at 1240... Which was twice the amount you needed for a Master title.

- Has this changed recently? I don't keep track of my App points anymore.

I never expect to be payed for training and I never ask. However when I was a young novice ranger looking for trainging on my way to Master Ranger I always tipped 2.5k regardless of the level and that was still cheaper than paying the ranger trainer (let alone finding one those SOBs)

I never ask for payment, but tip those who train me.

Well I guess I'll stand out. I charge if you send me a tell. Basically I have a macro set up to reply to a training request tell. This macro basically says that I will charge them 2k to train all skills they are ready to learn or they can bring me a small sum of resources, mainly the stuff in camo kits. I also give them the names of 2 other non master rangers who would be happy to train them for free.

Why do I do this? Well, there are several answers. I got sick of getting 9-10 tells a night asking for training. I want to play the game to ya know?! I have maxed out app points. Training does nothing for me. There are tons of other people out there that could use the App Points. I can hopefully get some camo kit resources from planets I don't travel to that often.

I do not intend my reply to be rude, infact it is written as a RP to some degree. I have had a few irked people rant at me for it. I have also had people play right along and respond with things like "Yes master, I feel your price is more than reasonible for getting the opprotunity to study your teachings." Some people get it and some don't.
